Coffee with dad, episode 503. I brought a mug I hadn’t used in a bit, it had been pushed to the back of my cupboard. I made it about 20 years ago when I took a pottery night class, reigniting my love for working with clay 🖤.

We went to the train museum today and I was so impressed! This model train city in the basement was so cool- dinosaurs on top of buildings, escaped lions and tigers, and a building on fire (don’t worry, firemen were on the scene).

One of these penguins was self conscious about its lack of hair, the other had a wonky head. The pug and the pig were fine though, no party hats needed.

Something fun happened this morning…. After bringing Cooper to school I spontaneously decided to get myself some coffee. I’ve been trying to make it at home more, save money. It’s fine. But some mornings I feel like I need a little something extra to sparkle up my morning. I ordered the special Valentine’s Day latte- super fancy! The cashier said, “An earlier customer paid it forward so your total is 45 cents, if you have it.” I dug around in my wallet and found 46 cents! It was the only cash I had. If I had more cash I would have paid it forward for someone else, so instead I think I will make a donation to one of the many causes that need help. It was definitely a sparkly way to start my day ✨

For a few days I felt paralyzed. Everything was too much and I didn’t know where to start, what to do, what COULD I do? Well, I’m an artist. I can make art. This is a sign, front/back (not sure which is which) in progress. I’m trying to use only materials I have (because f**k consumerism! Ha) and right now I have some cardboard and paint. I’m going to be adding color next 🎨. I am trying to escape paralysis from perfectionism and I know it’s not perfect - but it’s something. If we all do what we can we will be a mighty force!

I went to my studio this morning. Honestly I really didn’t feel like it. It’s hard to feel inspired and motivated when there is so much chaos and uncertainty. But I needed to start somewhere so I sat there and read an old journal, sent my sister a message, then took out a little clay.

Hi! I am giving some proof of life over here 😬. I have had the worst holiday season… Everybody in my family has been sick on rotation: First I had pneumonia (I’m STILL recovering), Cooper got so sick that we had to visit the ER, Brad has missed 3 days of work in the past 2 weeks (he maybe caught a virus from Cooper?) and even Sammie the dog got in on it. Every work day I had set aside was ambushed by illness. Luckily I hadn’t signed up for any holiday shows because I definitely would have missed them! And the few commitments I had made were with lovely and understanding people. I am so sorry to those people that had hoped to buy my work this season. I always love making holidays more special and I miss seeing everybody! I am hoping to build up my inventory and start getting it out into the world again. ❤️ PS- I haven’t been on Instagram much lately because I dropped my phone in the toilet….. TWICE!

I summoned some energy to bring some creatures and mugs to Adorne in Golden! Everything there is lovingly curated, arranged so that there are surprises in every nook, and just so beautiful. It really is a gem of a shop and I’m so proud and honored to have some work there. Ornaments coming soon (summoning more energy 🪄✨) *The last photo is not one of my mugs but looked cool with the dinosaur*
