The idea to grow GREAT pumpkins was formed in the most unlikely of places; a hospital recovery room at Methodist Hospital. While Randy's dad (Leo) recovered from open heart surgery and was heavily drugged, he lamented that he might not be able to return to work. He was in pain and depressed and the family was NO HELP. In a moment of desperate inspiration, Denise turned to Leo and said, "I need you

to make a full recovery because WE. (Side note: I wasn't heavily drugged at the time and have no idea WTF I got this harebrained idea). Leo rallied and our first giant pumpkin was an over 380 lb. Our second one was? Not so much. It was a mere 220 pounds. Last year we tipped the scales at just over 440 lbs. This is the year, though. !
