Ron Zimmerman, representing the Schine Gallery, presented a check for $2,624 to MHCAC Trustees (from L to R: treasurer Samantha Hall-Saladino, Don Williams, and Cheryl Bielli) this past Wednesday. The funds were raised during the Schine on the Holidays 2023 exhibit. We are so grateful to the Schine Gallery for choosing us as their designated organization for this year’s fundraising effort. Ron Zimmerman, representing the Schine Gallery, presents a check for $2,624 to Memorial Hall Cultural & Arts Centerboard members from left to right Samantha-Hall Saladino- treasurer, Don Williams, and Cheryl Bielli. The funds were raised during the "Schine on The Holidays" - 2023 exhibit. The mission of the Schine Gallery is to promote local artistic endeavors to benefit local nonprofit organizations.
Our recent exhibit, which ran for three weekends, was to benefit the Memorial Hall Cultural & Arts Center Their mission is to celebrate and inspire creativity by fostering cultural enrichment through education, exhibits, performances, classes, and events.
This exhibit highlight prominent individuals known for their varied talents in art, culture, and local history.
Liz Cole Argotsinger grew up in Johnstown. She is the driving force behind the Fulton Montgomery Quilt Barn Trail. Liz showcased a special display of “The Red Doors”.
Don Williams is a retired educator, noted author and lecturer on “all things Adirondack”. He exhibited his unique collection of burls, “Adirondack Natural Sculptures “.
Cheryl Bielli is an art educator and career artist. She illustrated the children’s book The Boy Who Never Threw Anything Out in 2022. A unique tree display highlighted this popular book!
We highlighted exquisite quilts by Nancy Devendorf Ware, vintage quilts from the Fulton County Museum as well as quilts from friends of Schine Gallery.
The Christmas trees were inspired by these quilts as well as “Inspirational Quotes”.
This was the first time the recently renovated “Screening Room” was used for presentations from:
Samantha Hall-Saladino, Fulton County Historian, gave a talk entitled “Entertaining Fulton County: The Kasson and Schine Legacies”
Don Williams spoke about his book “Beauty of the Burl”.
Cheryl Bielli did a power point of The Boy Who Never Threw Anything Out: From idea to illustration”.
