What a great day yesterday for the St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Royalty! 👑

First, congratulations again to our 2026 Queen Ava Scharpen and Princess Kennedy Bexell on a tremendous year. We are so proud of both of you and so thankful for everything you put into representing the St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo this past year. ❤️

Now it is officially time to welcome our 2027 Royalty!

We also presented two specialty awards this year:

We had a full and fun day starting with horsemanship right at 1pm in the arena, followed by interviews with our judges and the written test. We finished the afternoon with coronation surrounded by family and friends, with a few happy tears, lots of hugs and plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to watch, support the girls and be part of the day. Especially our royalty parents, who are such big supporters and cheerleaders, every step of the way!

A big thank you to our judges, Jessica Moor and Missa Laursen, for spending the day with us and bringing so much enthusiasm for rodeo and queening. We loved having you both, and an extra happy birthday to Jessica! We are pretty honored she chose to spend her day with us. 🎂

And thank you to Connor for doing an amazing job capturing the day through photos and video. This is just one of his great photos, with MANY more to come!

Congratulations again to Aurora and Maddi! We are excited to have you representing St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo and cannot wait for the year ahead!

Yes! We gladly welcome ✨spectators✨ and any local visiting royalty (no horses needed for visiting queens) to join us at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds for portions of our upcoming 2026–2027 Royalty Tryouts!

Contestants arrive at 12:00 PM to begin their day of competition (nothing for public to see). Horsemanship is estimated to begin around 1:00 PM, and we’d love to have a crowd there to cheer them on! Please keep in mind that all times are approximate and may shift depending on how the afternoon progresses.

👑 Coronation will take place at the end of the afternoon, where we’ll celebrate our outgoing Queen and Princess and crown our new St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Royalty.

A few things to know:
• Some portions of tryouts, including interviews and the written test, are closed to spectators, so there will be periods of downtime while contestants complete other portions of the competition.
• Please dress appropriately for the weather and fairgrounds.
• Food and beverages will not be available for purchase, so please plan ahead. There is a grocery store conveniently located adjacent to the fairgrounds.
• We ask that spectators do not gather under the pavilion, as portions of judging, scoring and tabulation will take place there.

This weekend is a bittersweet one as we wave farewell to Ava and Kennedy who are finishing their year as our 2026 St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Royalty. It feels like it all went by way too fast, and we are so proud of the way these two have represented our rodeo and our community!!

Ava – 2026 St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Queen

Ava stepped into the role of Queen and truly made it her own. She has represented St. Croix Valley with professionalism, confidence, kindness and a whole lot of heart. Whether she was in the arena, at an appearance or simply talking with someone along the way, Ava has always been genuinely herself. She has grown so much, and it has been pretty special getting to watch her confidence grow right along with her. We are incredibly proud of the young woman she is and the Queen she has been.

Kennedy – 2026 St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Princess

Kennedy has brought so much fun and personality to her year as Princess! She has a smile that is hard to miss and an excitement for horses and rodeo that comes through everywhere she goes. She jumped into this year ready for every adventure and made plenty of memories along the way. Kennedy has been a wonderful representative of St. Croix Valley, and we have loved watching her growth and enjoyment of her year in the crown.

And somewhere between all the rodeos, parades, appearances, miles traveled and laughs along the way, these two became a pretty great team.

Ava and Kennedy, thank you both for everything you have given to the St. Croix Valley this year. Thank you for representing us so well, for showing up big, for making us proud and, most of all, for being yourselves through all of it.

This weekend you may hand over the crowns, but you’ll always be part of our rodeo family. ❤️🤠

Join the 2027 St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Royalty! Tryouts are on Sunday, September 27th, 2026 at 12:00pm at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds in Glenwood City, Wisconsin.

Calling all young women ages 16-24 who want to be a representative of rodeo! No previous experience is necessary - we'll show you the ropes - but you should have a love and knowledge of the sport, be able to ride, and have a sound, suitable horse.

As our Rodeo Royalty, you'll do things like:
• Promote the rodeo all year round
• Shine in parades, rodeo grand entries, and flag presentations
• Assist the committee with rodeo events
• Attend other Wisconsin PRCA rodeos
• Sign autographs for fans - and more!

The non-refundable $50 application fee is due with your application. Consider getting a sponsor for your fee—we'll give them a shoutout! Where do we start?! Our rodeo was the most perfect weekend, beautiful weather, amazing ladies, and an electric crowd every night! We stayed extremely busy between sponsor visits, Miss Rodeo Wisconsin Pageant, Kate's Coffee Koop Royal Roundup, reading to kids, and of course the rodeo!

Thursday we visited all of our sponsors and got to meet the faces behind the businesses that make our rodeo possible! We also had a potluck to welcome the Barnes PRCA Rodeo family and crew, there was delicious food brought by everyone attending.

Friday morning we visited Kids View Daycare in Woodville and got to read to the kids and teach them about rodeo! Then we headed to the Pump House in Downing for lunch with the Miss Rodeo WI judges and visiting royalty. To kick off the first night of rodeo we held kids activities with all sorts of fun for the kids including games and a petting zoo! We then headed down to the rodeo arena to cheer on our fellow ladies in their horsemanship portion of the MRWI pageant! Lastly, it was rodeo time! We got to run flags, do fly-by's, and s**g cattle! "My favorite part of the weekend was getting to s**g cattle for the first time! I was over the moon with how well me and Mystic worked as a team and had the most fun out there! Of course autographs are always a favorite of mine as-well, I love inspiring the next generation of the sport I hold so near and dear to my heart!" - Ava Scharpen

Saturday we started the morning at Kate's Coffee Koop in Clear Lake. Kate got us all set up with fun drinks and delicious waffles! We signed autographs and talked with the community about what the rodeo and queening is all about. We also got to meet and talk with some local royalty! "It was so much fun getting to spend extra time with one of our valued sponsors, Kate of Kates Coffee Coop. We enjoyed drinks and waffles while catching up with rodeo fans and local royalty. A personal highlight for me would have to have been seeing three of the most adorable rodeo fans, we met them back in July at the Spooner Heart of the North Rodeo. These three girls were pumped to see us again, and so excited to come out to see all the rodeo action. Talking with then next generations is what truly makes this organization so special, leaving an impact is what keeps our sport alive." - Kennedy Bexell. Then we headed to the Baldwin-Woodville High School to attend and support the girls at the MRWI Pageant Fashion Show! Once we got back to the rodeo grounds we headed to start the kids activities for that night! Shortly after that, the MRWI Coronation was held where we crowned the Sweethearts and 2027 Miss Rodeo Wisconsin Lady In Waiting Ava Johnson! She did a phenomenal job and will be cool to see her carry on their family legacy, following her sister former Miss Rodeo Wisconsin 2025 Ashley Johnson! Finally, the rodeo began! We got to do it all again and had a blast, such a bittersweet moment as we are winding down our reigns.

We would like to thank Barnes PRCA Rodeo for always putting on an amazing show for the fans and lending horses when we need them! We would also like to thank our committee who makes this all happen, Lexie Schugel our royalty coordinator for help with outfits and helping the show run smoothly, all of our visiting royalty, and last but not least all of our sponsors who make this rodeo possible year after year!
