THANK YOU to everyone who came out to see the world premiere of Solstice:A New Musical. We can't move on without acknowledging the hard working creative team that put in the time, effort, and love of bringing a new work to life. There were so many people behind the scenes making this happen but none working harder than and .

Obviously we all know Ben (who doesn't know I'm posting this) put his heart and soul on the page to create the book and score of the production. Not only that he was acting as producer and guiding the creative team and process all while accompanying every rehearsal and show without any sheet music in front of him. Visionary of the Year, indeed.

Brittany Martel came to us for this production after working with many of the cast in various shows. She jumped into an established family and echoing the themes of the show naturally became our guiding force mother figure. Directing a show that exists is one skill set, but being able to create something new while respecting artistic vision, time, talent, and storytelling is a whole new ballgame.

Thank you also to our stage manager for keeping the wheels moving, for making sure we could be heard, Katie Klein for making sure we could be seen, and all of our cast and crew for their time and talent.

We couldn't think of a more perfect day to announce the first of our 2026 Community Awards! Congratulations to our second ever Visionary of the Year - Ben Rowley!

Tonight, Ben's original musical Solstice makes its premiere on our Main Stage after selling out a staged reading in our Cabaret in 2023. We are deeply honored to be host of this new work through its life cycle and to have witnessed the work and Ben grow together within our four walls.

In addition to having written the Solstice Book and Score, Ben serves as Music Director at St. Mary's Church, Artistic Director of the Arts Academy at St. Mary's, Guest Artist at Theatre for Tots, Music Director, Conductor and Pit Musician for several local organizations including Broadway Upstate.

Ben is not only immensely talented and creative - he is making his mark on the local arts scene, advocating for and lifting up other artists along the way.

Each time Ben steps through the Wood Theater doors, its with an infectious energy of warmth and collaboration that we are so grateful for.

We are proud to call Ben a friend of the Wood and to present him with this award at our 'The Greatest Show (in Glens Falls)' Gala on Friday July 24th at The Queensbury Hotel.
