ITS SHIM SHAM TIME! By special request, coming to you is Shim Sham September!

Have you been confused because you have seen everyone suddenly stop partner dancing with and all do the same “line dance” together? Have you ever tried to follow along, but not really know what steps everyone is doing? Do you know the shim sham in theory but forget in practice? Do you want to jazz up your shim sham with possible variations? Do you just want to learn the shim sham?

Then this series is for you!

Starting September 2nd we will be doing a 5 week series to learn the shim sham! Every Wednesday, from 7-7:30 or so we will learn a section of the shim sham. On September 30th, you will have learned all the pieces and we will put the whole thing together!

Partnered 6-count Lindy lesson will continue right after from 7:30 to 8:00! I may even sneak in some ways that we can put some of the shim sham moves in our partnered social dances!

It is going to be a fun time, so make sure you are there!

P.S. Be there THIS Wednesday (tomorrow) to see the shim sham in action around 9pm! Oh and also to dance, dance, dance!

This Saturday is an open call for this years Halloween Solo Jazz team! A mostly ghostly routine is coming to you soon for Halloween! This is a mostly solo jazz routine open to all who would like to expand their solo jazz skills, be in a team environment, and have fun! We will start August 22nd and consider that first day as an open taster/teaser to see if this will be a good fit for you.

The song will be “Jeepers Creepers” by the Mad Hat Hucksters. It is about 180 bpm. I would recommend having a basis in solo Charleston, and there will be some partnered Charleston moves as well. Performances will be at Baloween on October 30th, other local venues, and a professional video to live forever (exact dates TBD, weeks of October 26-November 2nd)! Practices will be Saturday mornings starting August 22nd at 9am-10am at the Cove.

There will be dues of $50 / month ($100 total for the 2.5 months of practice)
To cover practice space rental, a professional video, and choreography. First dues will be on Sept 5th, which means you are fully in! If cost is a concern, please reach out to me. I don’t want that to be a barrier for anyone - seriously.
