Based on Mary Longe’s book "Art Legacy Compass: Guidance for Managing, Downsizing, and Transitioning an Artist’s Studio and Estate, this introductory session presents a practical nine step framework for visual artists. Participants will explore how to organize and document artwork, build an inventory, establish provenance, strengthen the business side of an art practice, preserve important records and digital assets, and make thoughtful decisions about what to keep, sell, donate, gift, archive, or responsibly dispose of. The session also introduces planning and executing the disbursement of artwork and creating a practical roadmap for the future. Artist families are welcome to attend.
