What a night at Chateau Speedway!

After two years away from racing, Chris finally got back in the seat and had the opportunity to race alongside Owen. Huge thanks to Ryan and Hannah for making it happen!

Heat Race
• Chris started 1st, finished 3rd
• Owen started 2nd and drove away with the win

Feature
• Owen started 3rd
• Chris started 8th

Owen was battling for 2nd when a caution flew, and contact while slowing for the yellow left him with a torn-off nose wing, a bent top wing, and a damaged Jacob’s Ladder. Most people would think his night was over.

He charged to the front, took the lead, and led most of the race! Unfortunately, the missing nose wing forced him to use the brakes much harder, causing them to overheat. With only a few laps to go, he lost brakes and settled for a hard-fought 3rd-place finish.

Chris put together a great run as well, charging from 8th to 4th and getting the chance to race side-by-side with Owen. But once again, the kid beat Dad!

Next stop: Fix It Forward Speedway in Fargo, ND tonight!

Worthington Speedway Race Recap
What an emotional roller coaster of a night at Worthington Speedway.
With 37 sprint cars signed in, Owen started 6th in his heat race and charged forward to finish 2nd. Then came one of the toughest moments I’ve experienced in 23 years of racing. At the scales, Owen came in light and was disqualified from the heat race.
We have been 50-75 pounds heavy all season. We changed motors this week and, looking back, we should have weighed the car after hot laps. I never would have imagined a motor change could make that much difference, but I guess a combination of different scales and the new motor ended up being the difference.
The proud dad moment came after the disappointment. Owen didn’t hang his head or give up. Starting at the tail of the B Main, he raced his way up to 5th, passing cars and showing great speed. Unfortunately, only the top two transferred to the feature, so his night ended just short.
We’ll chalk this one up as a learning experience and move forward. It’s frustrating, but also humbling. I’m proud of how Owen responded and proud of the effort from everyone on our team.
Thanks to all our friends, family and sponsors for making this possible. Special thanks to Cory Neid for the extra hand.
Also, huge thanks to Neil Bode for helping get us a motor to finish the season after issues last week.

Race recap-River Cities Speedway | Grand Forks, ND

Before we even made it to the track, we had a turbo boost pipe blow less than 20 miles from Grand Forks. A huge THANK YOU to Heather Buysse/Brandon Buysse and Mark Dobmeier/Forx Radiator for helping get us back on the road. We can’t thank them enough for bailing us out and making sure we got back on the road.

Owen started 5th in the heat race and finished 5th, but he knew something wasn’t right. The car was lacking speed and power, and after some troubleshooting we found a bad spark plug wire that was causing the issue.

With the problem fixed, Owen started 10th in the feature and raced his way up to a 5th-place finish!

Heat: P5 to P5Feature: P10 to P5
Hard Charger!

Thanks to all of our sponsors, supporters, family, and friends who make this possible. On to the next one on September 4th at Chateau Speedway in Lansing, MN with the Sprint Kings.
