Good things come in pairs! Maura Segal’s pieces make beautiful duets 👯‍♀️ Her graphic design background shines in her ability to create elegant synergy with color from varying shapes and textures. We’ve loved getting to witness her process while visiting her light-filled studio in Venice, CA ☀️

Maura Segal’s paintings may appear simple at a distance, but a few steps closer reveal the intricate craftsmanship nested in her imagery. Inspired by modern architecture, Maura uses shapes, layers, and textures to conjure elegance from complexity. Even her thin lines — which appear painted — are constructed using thinly hand-cut strips of paper.

Come by the Glencoe gallery to see Maura’s works in person — on view through late August in our summer show “Age of Abstraction” ✂️🎨
