This year’s Glencoe Founders Day T-shirt holds a special meaning.

For many years, Cheryl Jeffrey dedicated countless hours to Glencoe Founder’s Day. She faithfully served on the Founder’s Day Committee and organized the Panther Prowl year after year, continuing to do so right up until last year. When I unexpectedly took on the responsibility of organizing Founder’s Day a few years ago, Cheryl was the person I leaned on most for advice. She was always willing to answer questions, share her knowledge, and help ensure Founder’s Day continued to be a success.

In honor of everything Cheryl gave to this event and our community, we have dedicated this year’s Founder’s Day T-shirt to her memory. This tribute is not intended to overlook the many others who have contributed to Glencoe through the years. Rather, it is our way of recognizing someone whose passion and dedication helped shape Founder’s Day into the tradition we all enjoy today.

We are offering these shirts at our cost. The committee is not making any profit from shirt sales. Our only goal is to give the community an opportunity to honor Cheryl’s legacy while celebrating another wonderful Founders Day together.

Shirts are available in Natural, White, and Carolina Blue and can be ordered through September 1st. There will be limited shirts available on Main Street the day of.

Thank you for helping us remember Cheryl and for continuing to support Glencoe Founder’s Day.

Update: Mrs. Small with the school will be taking care of the Panther Prowl this year. But please, if you would like help in anyone way, reach out to us.

This year’s Founder’s Day will be our first without Cheryl Jeffrey, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Anyone who knew Cheryl knew how much she loved Founder’s Day. For many years, she poured her heart into making it a success. Even after stepping down from the Founder’s Day and Economic Development Committee, she remained the person we all turned to for advice and guidance each year.

One tradition she never gave up was the Panther Prowl 5K. It was something she truly cared about, and she continued organizing it until the very end.

This year, we would love to continue the Panther Prowl 5K in Cheryl’s honor—but we need someone willing to take the lead. While the rest of the committee will be busy with activities on Main Street, we need a dedicated volunteer to organize and oversee the 5K.

If you’ve ever wanted to give back to our community or help preserve something that meant so much to Cheryl, this is a meaningful way to do it. We would hate to see the Panther Prowl become another thing we lose simply because we don’t have enough helping hands.

If you are interested, or would like to learn more about what’s involved, please contact Alyssa at (405) 894-4946. Help us honor Cheryl’s legacy by keeping one of her favorite Founder’s Day traditions alive.
