Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting local librarian, Lydia Wen Rodgers!

"My name is Lydia. You might recognize me as one of the librarians at the Glen Cove Public Library. This is my family of seven including our spirited Wheaten Terrier, Lulu.

When the pandemic hit, we decided that it would be best to shelter in place with my parents who are both in their 70's with pre-existing conditions. We’re all adjusting to our new routines.

My husband works in the financial technology sector. With offices all over the world, his company was already utilizing web conferencing systems. While he is familiar with the cloud platform, the rest of us have had to come up to speed...
..Our daughter is in her senior year at high school. These last couple of weeks... (Read the rest of Lydia's story at www.CirclesofLightStories.com)

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting Coach Ronnie Ruggiero Jr.

"There are both negatives and positives to this situation.

Negative, it causes fear to creep in on many people and it stays there IF they allow it to. I, personally have family and friends on the frontline and am so proud of them for what they are doing. All we are able to do is pray for them and keep sending them love.

Positive, I have created a personal breakthrough for myself, posting videos on social media. I struggled for 7 tears to post a social media video and I was not going to allow this virus to keep me climbing a mountain of excuses. I have broken through my fear of the unknown.

Since then I have posted ... "

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting cancer warrior, Debi Santiago.

"So my experience with lockdown has been quite a bit better than most I think. Besides being an introvert and just loving my ‘alone’ time, I have Stage IV Kidney Cancer that I’ve been fighting and have been in treatment for 3 years.

I still work full-time time so I’m usually exhausted and only have minimal energy for anything else. My job lets me work from home on a regular basis when I need to and not having to go in at all right now I find I’m very relaxed and not nearly as tired.

I’ve been cooking more because I miss it! My husband, who works for a local assisted living facility, has been... "

Six months before the pandemic, we moved our family 800 miles from rural Kentucky to the Greater New York City Metropolitan area to accept a ministry position at a Long Island church.

In the midst of this pandemic...
Monday (3/23), I woke up with an idea.
On Tuesday (3/24), I purchased the domain.
On Wednesday (3/25), I photographed 15 families.
On Thursday (3/26), we launched the website.

Today, the book was published.

The dictionary definition of corona is: “…circles of light seen around a luminous body…”

The “Circles of Light Stories” project is meant to capture the postiive side of human nature during this cataclysmic epoch in history.

Most are not hero stories. They are just everyday people adapting to a very non-everyday world in a very heroic way.

The dictionary definition of corona is: “…circles of light seen around a luminous body…”

Near the epicenter of this disease, in Glen Cove, NY, I have begun to use my camera to tell the stories of the people in my small suburban city making a positive difference – being a “circle of light.”

The “Circles of Light Stories” project is meant to capture this cataclysmic epoch in people’s lives. Most are not hero stories. They are just everyday people adapting to a very non-everyday world.

This is Volume 1 - There will be a second volume published 1 year later with updated photos and stories and a third volume featuring the same families again 5 years after this pandemic started.

Get your copy now! And if you order today (I think the deadline is sometime on May 14) they are offering 35% off and free shipping!!

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting author Anna Sequoia.

"I’m a writer, I’ve published a lot of books so I am used to being in the house and alone most of the day.

For the most part, I love being home. My spouse teaches in a high school in Queens. That’s all online now, so we have this bonus time together. I’ve always been food-oriented. I like to cook and entertain so I miss being able to go out to get the ingredients I want to work with at that moment..."

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting Vinny st Marten and MaryAnn Borgatti-Sieber, musician, motivational speaker, and registered nurse.

Vinny: "I like routine in my life, so I have gotten into a new routine of exercise, listening to the Bible, taking long walks, and eating. I am able to spend more time reflecting on some projects I am working on and praying, perhaps a bit more than usual, for family, friends, for the safety of those on the front lines of this battle who selflessly risk their own wellbeing and for our new friends at Glen Cove Christian Church. I am not fearful but rather hopeful that God guides us past this."

MaryAnn: "I am feeling a bit isolated and do miss seeing our grandchildren very much. FaceTime and videos are great but not quite the same. It is my nature to worry so I am having a field day with this.

I have been trying to take my pastor, Tommy Lanham's advice and start each day with prayers it has helped to give me a fresh outlook each morning. If we must be isolated from the world we are happy to be isolated together."

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting Rose Ventura and Christine Martinson, sisters working from home.

"We call ourselves Lucy and Ethel! I live downstairs and spend my days working from home while my sister Christine and her hubby who live upstairs are spending quality time with their son, wife, and 2 small grandchildren.

They came for a visit from Colorado some weeks ago and got stuck here so they’re riding out the storm together..."

Today, the www.CirclesofLightStories.com project will be highlighting Aura Wagner, a homeschooling mom feeding her community.

"I am continuing to homeschool like any other day. The changes for me during this pandemic are having to be cautious going out shopping and socializing, and I am following all the recommendations for social distancing and safety.

With this said, I am compelled to helping others by putting together a program with the Glen Cove Christian Church to pick up and deliver donated foods to those in need..."
