Her voice on your TV/Radio was one you'd never forget, but her beautiful spirit, smile and sense of humor were even more memorable if you were ever lucky enough to meet her in person! 😢

It is with great sadness that we say a goodbye to Angela Stribling, who may have been mostly known from her BET days, but she also spent years in radio with WHUR & XM Satellite Radio. Let us also not forget the numerous voice over opportunities over the years where you couldn't help but smile and mimic how she always said her name, so much poise, confidence and class that matched everything about her! Not sure if many knew, but she also had a beautiful voice as a Jazz Vocalist. A true class act, gone too soon! 😔

Condolences to her husband, family, friends and many fans around the world, she will be deeply missed! 🙏🏾🕊

A weeks ago, I shared a video of Dionne Warwick that so many of you loved.

As I’m preparing several of my students for next year’s YoungArts competition, I spent some time listening to this year’s winners.

Then I heard Danielle Angrand.

Folks… a star is born.

Danielle Angrand, the 2026 National YoungArts Jazz Vocal Winner with Distinction from New World School of the Arts in Miami, absolutely stopped me in my tracks.

There is simply no other way to say it. This young lady is a genius.

Listen to the phrasing. The breath support. The tone quality. The impeccable intonation. The timing. The musicianship. Every single decision feels thoughtful, mature, and completely authentic. It’s hard to believe someone so young can sing with this level of artistry.

I often hear people say, “They just don’t make singers like they used to.”

Well… here’s your answer.

They do.

They’re out there. They simply need our support.

If we want another generation of artists like Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle, and the other great vocal legends, we have to champion young artists who are already demonstrating that same commitment to excellence.

Please do me a favor. I almost never ask this, but if this performance moves you the way it moved me, share it. Introduce someone else to Danielle Angrand. Let’s do our part to encourage excellence whenever we find it.
