Exactly ten years ago, life took a very dramatic turn. My daughter Tacy always had strong instincts and she wondered why things seemed so different. I brushed it off to her as just a Mercury retrograde … but in just a few short weeks, our family would never be the same. How I agonized over how divorce would impact my children! What an absolute joy to see my beautiful daughter thriving as a young woman, surrounded by family and friends and in a healthy loving relationship. I count my blessings every day! 🙏

What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up, like a raisin in the sun — or fester like a sore, and then run?

When I first was 16 years old, nothing could have kept me from my dream of pursuing a Theater degree and becoming an actress.

However, a breakup two years later sent me reeling and down an entirely new path. Ironically, the breakup of my marriage two decades later would put me back on the path I started all those years ago as a teenage theater kid.

Festival Fit Check! I’m feeling blessed to take the stage at wearing my best friend Rachel’s little black dress. Rachel and I always dreamt of a day when we would tell our stories, but in fictional form. She didn’t have that chance … but she’s been with me every step of the way of my creative process! Her brother has been my writing coach, and I first did a read-through of the show with her other brother .n_morin — who has been an incredible source of support!

My character’s name is inspired by Rachel’s middle name and the setting of the show is based on actual experiences I had at the Santa Barbara Writers Conference when I was wearing her little black dress.

With all of this in mind, I knew that Rachel would be with me for this journey, but I was still blown away by the events of last night after our tech rehearsal.

My assistant asked if I would drop him off at a friend’s house and GPS took me to a location directly across the road from Greater Grace Church … where Rachel’s celebration of life has been held.

I had not passed this site even once since her memorial service nearly three years ago! I never doubted she was with me, but WOW talk about a sign! Love you, Rachel! 🥰
