What “the Clairs” Are
The word clair comes from French, meaning clear. Each clair refers to a way information is perceived “clearly” through a particular channel seeing, feeling, knowing, hearing, etc.
Many people resonate with one or two primary clairs, while others experience several depending on context, stress level, creativity, or emotional openness.
Importantly:
• Some interpret these experiences spiritually
• Others understand them psychologically or neurologically
• Both lenses can coexist without canceling each other out
⸻
1. Clairvoyance — Clear Seeing
What it is:
Receiving information through images rather than words.
How it shows up:
• Mental pictures, symbols, colors, or scenes
• Vivid imagination that feels “informative,” not random
• Seeing patterns or outcomes before they happen
• Visual metaphors that carry meaning
Everyday example:
You suddenly picture a friend crying, then later learn they were struggling at that moment.
Grounded interpretation:
Strong visual cognition, symbolic thinking, pattern recognition, and an active mind’s eye.
⸻
2. Clairaudience — Clear Hearing
What it is:
Receiving insight through sound or internal dialogue.
How it shows up:
• Inner words, phrases, or tones that feel distinct from normal thoughts
• Strong intuition triggered by music or sound
• “Hearing” guidance as a calm internal voice
Everyday example:
You hear an inner “don’t go there” and later realize avoiding that choice was wise.
Grounded interpretation:
Heightened internal narration, auditory memory, and intuitive language processing.
⸻

⸻
4. Claircognizance — Clear Knowing
What it is:
Immediate knowing without a logical chain of thought.
How it shows up:
• Sudden certainty
• Insights that feel complete and unquestionable
• Information arriving “fully formed”

You know a job isn’t right for you before being able to explain why.
Grounded interpretation:
Rapid subconscious processing, intuition based on accumulated experience and pattern synthesis.
⸻
5. Clairalience — Clear Smelling
What it is:
Perceiving meaningful scents without a physical source.
How it shows up:
• Smelling perfume, smoke, flowers, or specific odors unexpectedly
• Scents linked to memories or emotional states
Everyday example:
Smelling a loved one’s perfume years after they’ve passed, during an emotional moment.
Grounded interpretation:
Strong olfactory memory, emotional recall, and sensory-triggered association.
⸻
6. Clairgustance — Clear Tasting
What it is:
Receiving information through taste sensations without eating.
How it shows up:
• Sudden tastes connected to memories, people, or emotions
• Metallic, sweet, bitter, or familiar flavors appearing briefly
Everyday example:
A sudden taste of coffee that reminds you intensely of a specific person or time.
Grounded interpretation:
Rare but linked to memory, emotion, and sensory crossover in the brain.
