Beautiful song and choreography for "Stairway to Heaven" covered by Dolly Parton.

We started the song with much more gentle effects that built in intensity throughout the music as it grew as well.

The warm colors on the dancers faces combined with the cool white and blue colors on the floor and walls created a nice contrast together.

Always enjoyed this piece, hope you do to!

Breaking out the Bar Lights from .official to add some fun to this Tap piece at Soma's show

The kids did an excellent job and we were able to add some fun effects to align with their dance. I didn't have a proper hazer yet, so all the atmospherics were done with a Halloween Fogger and a box fan lol.

These are just some early rehearsal shots with my new lighting rig, I finally get to use my own lights and have the freedom to set things up the way I like them!

The mirror ball is doing some serious work here, and the hazer is making those beams look beautiful!

I'll get some more performance shots and videos up soon!

Another really cool lighting effect layering. We've got the front light (obviously) but then we add in some white spinning gobos on the back curtain, and you'll notice they are actually in an intensity chase effect (just a flashing on and off in sequence.)

Then the wash lights are zoomed down so you can see the individual beams and they are aimed downstairs and moving in an effect I would call a Pan Balleyhoo. Lighting terminology can sound so weird sometimes! Basically the lighting heads can spin or Pan, and they are keeping a constant tilt, but panning back and forth in a somewhat random sequence. I think it looks nice :)

Ultimate Rewind Oldies show at the Plaza Theater, it really like this effect combo.

We had the on-stage beams set to a slow gobo spin effect to give some back lighting, while using the 20 Rush Washes overhead in magenta, zoomed all the way down, and moving in a slow tilt chase effect, we call this a can can lol.

These together make a really nice effect, and we just set the tempo to fit the feel of the song. Make a really nice busking effect that can be used as the house LD for traveling bands coming into the space.

So much fun bringing some exciting lighting to the Oldies show back in March of 2024.

Love these old songs and it was so much fun working with the band to create some cool lighting effects and really bring a great show to the Plaza stage.

My busking (running lights on the fly) skills were getting much more polished by this time and I really liked several of the looks. The colors blended well, the layering of the wash and beams with some subtle movement ended up looking really professional. Hope you enjoy.

This group is actually coming back to the Plaza stage in about a month on November 8th at 7pm. If you want to see them, head over to the Glasgow Plaza Theater website to pick up your tickets.

Party light chases for Mamma Mia at Barren County High School.

I had the opportunity to work with .gradner and the Barren County High School drama students to design lights for their 2024 show, Mamma Mia.

The lighting control was running the Chauvet ShowXpress software which we were able to use to create some chase effects and fun designs for the musical pieces and add some excitement to their already great choreography.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the final product as it was during another show I was working but I did get a few shots of some of my favorite effects.

My favorite background I made for Snow White. The dwarfen mine! I started with some Dall-E prompts and then modified with photoshop to what I needed for the final product.

Snow White and The Seven Dwarves! My 7th Soma show and our 3rd at Glasgow High School. Some of my absolute favorite backgrounds (cough, the dwarf's mine...) that brought so much color and flair to the shows.

By this time, I had a chance to better understand the theater's short throw projector, and I created almost all of the backgrounds used in the show with Dall-E and Photoshop. As we didn't have lots of time or resources to create a set, this allowed so much flexibility to set the stage.

In addition, we were dealing with the limitations of the lighting system before the upgrade to LEDs, so we had very little overhead color or even ability to focus a light.

The backgrounds gave me the ability to create the illusion of light beams shining through the trees or streaming in an open window without having a fixture in the location.

Also, I was able to modify some of the iconic Snow White title pages to be on brand for the dance studio and ad some personalization to the overall effects.
