I am just about finished with the 1939 Cissna Park yearbook. It has moved along rather fast, which is why I am doing it. I hope to have it up and published in a week or two.
Simultaneously, I am working on the Henry C. Ziegenhorn, Jr. book. Doing both at the same time gives me a bit of a break mentally. I have a ton of documents and photos that are going into the Ziegenhorn book, so I do need the mental break. Rest assured, though, I am working hard on it.
At present, I am going through the photos that I might be using in the book. Final decision on which photos and documents I'll use will come when I start putting it together. Until then, back to work.

I "think" I have completed all of my typing of land documents. I did go a bit crazy with them, have far too many to even print, but I needed to follow the land purchase trail. The Ziegenhorn's certainly bought and sold a lot of land over the years; some a couple of times. In Claytonville, Iroquois, Illinois, I think a Ziegenhorn, or at least a close relative of mine, has owned nearly all of the lots in town at least once. I'm the third family member to own the house I first purchased in town.
All the land documents will generally be used to inform people of ownership of multiple lots/acreage. I won't be putting 98% of them in any books. I'll just pass the info on to others to use, if they desire. It was a journey chasing them down, and I'm sure I missed a bunch. DGE

Finally, after several years of doing remodeling on two houses, which still aren't finished, I have started working on the Henry C. Ziegenhorn, Jr. books again. I am presently typing up more land and legal documents. Granted, I may only use just a few of the large number of documents, but I need to know what I have and put them in publication form for when I do need them. Thanks for all of your patience with me in this project.

Still working on my many projects. I am getting way too much news and this Coronavirus issue is a bit depressing. So many deaths and people in the hospital. Hopefully, the virus will calm down by June and we can get back to some form of normalcy. In the meantime, I will continue working on my projects and try to get that Henry C. Ziegenhorn Jr. book off my back. The deeper I go with that book, the more I find out about his family. It has been a long, but fruitful journey.

Wow! It's been since August for my last post. I have been staying off FB, so that accounts for most of it.
I have been working, though. Did research in Arkansas and Mercer County, Illinois for land documents. My ancestors certainly bought and sold a lot of land, almost like trading baseball cards as a kid. At present, I am logging in all of the documents and cross-referencing them so I know what I have in an easier to read form than a legal document. Had to make up my own forms. They certainly make it easier to read what the original document says.
I figure there is still a year to go before I can put anything out, though. I will try my best to do it sooner.

Working hard on typing up the last of the document folder I have on the Ziegenhorn's. I have also finished typing and logging in all the land deeds I have from Arkansas for the Henry Ziegenhorn, Jr. book. So, things are moving along, just not as fast as I would like. This has become a massive project, but worth while - five years so far. DON

Yes, I know, I've been lax on informing people about my many projects, but I have been working steadily, sometimes doing all nighters. My biggest problem is I have to check every name and date for accuracy. You would not believe how many simple typos and data mistakes, although minor, alter the truth of whatever I'm working on. I want all of the books I produce as accurate and factual as I can make them.
I'm five years into the Henry C. Ziegenhorn, Jr. journal book and still working my way through documents. I'm just thankful I have so many original documents, including deeds, wills, funeral registries, diaries, etc., absolutely invaluable.
Well, back to work.

Sorry for the long gaps in my communications with all of you but doctor appointments trump FB.
I have been working hard on gathering even more material for my books. Even went back down to Arkansas to get more photos, some that I had never seen before, so it was a good trip.
I am moving away from correcting photos/ cleaning them up, and am moving on to the typing of various document. As I work my way through the documents I am adding updated material, and/or updating the names of towns to match modern vs original names. It's amazing how many towns have changed their spelling since the mid 1800s.
I will try to be more active on my progress.

Sorry to have been absent for so long, but a health issue has kept me sidelined since January. I am back on track with my various projects and will concentrate on the Henry C. Ziegenhorn, Jr. Journal project to get that out of the way.

08/12/2018

I have finished going through the Ziegenhorn photos and have converted the ones I'll use in my three planned books from TIFF to JPEG format. I did separate the images I'll use in each book, but need to go through them just to make sure I have the right images for each book's parameter.
Thanks to all of you who have been patient with me on these projects. It does take time to collect photos that are over a hundred plus years old to fit any project.

Just about done reviewing the photos I will be using in several related books. Then, well, it's time to dig into the research papers and all the data I've been collecting my entire life, especially, the last five years.
Putting it all together, in a cohesive, logical set of books is going to be even more challenging.
