Dal Burtchaell is a southern folk potter born and raised in Gillsville, Georgia-He has worked from the ground up in the pottery field, first preparing the clay, stacking the kiln and firing the ware and in his spare time he learn the craft and became a skilled potter- In his early production years Dal made unglazed flowerpots, strawberry pots and a large assortment of outdoor planters, patio and o

rnamental garden ware- After years of making functional pottery Dal began producing jugs and other specialty folk art items- These items were just the creative outlet that Dal was looking for and he immediately turned his artistic talents to the creation of a very unique style- He began glazing and making more original and collectible items- Through trial and error and experimentation Dal developed into a highly collected Southern Folk Artist- His glaze recipes are custom mixed and very unique- He crafts face jugs, stone ware, utilitarian items, urns, vases and is known for his very large pieces which are up to 20 gallons- Dal's success grew with this new outlet and over time his work became highly prized- Each piece Dal creates is individually hand thrown and fired to perfection and numerous firings are required to create the unique and different colored glazes- He prides himself in custom design and loves the task of personal request to fulfill individual taste and preferences- Each piece Dal creates is one of a kind, made in limited quantity and signed by Dal-
Marcia Craven, Dal's fiance', often assist him and creates a variety of face jugs, mugs and other items representing her own unique style- Marcia is the daughter of Billy Joe Craven and was born and raised in Gillsville, Georgia and is a 10th generation potter in the Craven family- The Craven family has been making pottery since 1712-
Since each potter piece is individually thrown on the pottery wheel, hand turned, hand glazed, and signed each piece may have minor imperfections- The photos look different on each monitor and the real color may appear different from what you see with your monitor-
