I recently went to Gilbert AZ for the first time for a wedding in the family. While there we walked around the Riparian Preserve. I was amazed at how many different birds we saw just on a little hour stroll. Stunning! I painted this back here in UT using a reference photo I took while there.

If I’m ever find myself in the Gilbert area again I’m planning more time and bringing my paints with!

This portrait is of my Grandma from when she was a young girl. I found the reference image on my family tree. My Grandma and I were really close and it was a sweet experience to think of her throughout the whole process.

It can be seen with its lovely frame (that I forgot to take a picture of before dropping off oops) hanging in the .gallery all July.

“The Annunciation” 2/2 of my recently completed cropped Mastercopies from the wonderful Carl Bloch.

My pregnant self was drawn to his pieces of the young Mother Mary.
Have you ever thought about what kind of pregnancy she had with baby Jesus? Was she sick during the first trimester? Did she carry low or high? Was he a wiggly baby that got her in the bladder every once in a while? How were her following pregnancies different?
After the flood of emotions that came over me when I saw that positive on my pregnancy test I can’t imagine what she felt at this moment when the Angel appeared.

“Flight Into Egypt” I recently completed this cropped Mastercopy from the wonderful Carl Bloch. As a school we all chose Carl Bloch pieces to do copies of.

My pregnant self was drawn to his pieces of the young Mother Mary. This piece in particular I hadn’t seen before doing the research. It had me in tears thinking about what the flight to Egypt would have entailed with new first time parents and a small child.

The proceeds from the auction go towards a few scholarships for up and coming artists that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I personally plan on applying in the Spring.
