I’ve always thought of my different series as chapters of my life.
Ticket Around the World looks back at a very specific chapter—living in Southeast Asia as a child. Chaos & Complexity is another chapter, although I’m still figuring out exactly what it’s trying to say.
I used to think these paintings were about my teenage years—the intensity, uncertainty, chaos, and the search for some kind of structure.
But coming back to this series now, almost five years after I started it, I see something different.
Maybe it’s really about life.
The highs and lows. Feeling grounded one moment and completely unsettled the next. The layers we carry. The things we can control and the things we can’t. And somehow, in the middle of all that complexity, those unexpected little pops of joy.
Maybe this chapter is still being written.
