I don't typically do this... But, I'm going to share with y'all today...
I am a mom of 3 cRaZy ADHD driven boys. I am a wife, daughter, granddaughter, caregiver, teacher, maker, small business owner, and most importantly, I LOVE JESUS (and he loves me). This is my life.
My classroom transformation thus far...
Hours have gone into this... HOURS y'all. And my entire body hurts. Am I done? Nope. But it's come a long way.
There were years of staples in the walls that I removed. Holes patched. Is it perfect? No. But it's bright and colorful, just the way I prefer my classroom to be.
The last 2 years I have taught high school science, this year, I will teach high school English. I didn't choose this path, this is where God put me. He opened these doors for me & I chose to follow him.
I want the kids that come through those doors to remember that Mrs. Stewart's classroom was a happy place, it was a safe space and it was where they felt loved. Loved by Jesus, loved by me and loved by others. Because at the end of high school are they going to remember that science/English that I taught them? Maybe a few things. Will they remember that I love them and made them feel safe? Absolutely, 100%.
Am I extra? Absolutely. Do they love it? Without a doubt.
That's the thing about me... When I do something, I do it 150%. There's no halfway for me. (My husband will vouch for that). So all the hours I put into this classroom... It wasn't required of me, but I know what that space means to me & to my students. After all, that's why I do this job.
So here I am, English teacher, art teacher, dance teacher, nursing teacher, temperature taker, band aid applier, tissue giver, tear wiper, janitor, trash lady, cleaning lady. The list goes on and on.
This year, for the first time in my life, all 3 of my kids will be with me at the same school. I am going back to college. I am teaching English, art, & dance. I am keeping this small business going. I am trusting GOD and thanking him for leading me here and for these opportunities to show my students his love & what it looks like to follow him.
Also, I'm linking my Amazon wishlist in the comments for things that I still need/want for my classroom. If you're able and would like to contribute, I would appreciate it so much.
