If you focus on the people, your model railroad will look terrific
When I look at old photos like this I always wonder, who were these folks? What were their lives like? What compelled them to start a new life in the wilderness and scratch for gold among the hard rocks of the desert? I always wonder what their story was.
In a video that will premier this evening (May 29th, 2026) at 5 pm MST, I'll be sharing a new venture for the studio that includes a new plan for expanding the On30 Thunder Mesa model railroad. Inspired by the stories of pioneers like these and the rough and tumble settlements that they helped to build. Fueled by imagination, history mixes with legend to write the next chapter in the Thunder Mesa story. A new boomtown is coming, and the best part is, you can build it too - if you want to.
