BREAKING NEWS!!! Because of rain in the forecast, the Cormorant's Fancy concert on Sunday, August 2 will take place in the dry, air conditioned Seminary chapel, rather than outdoors. Leave your lawn chairs, pets, and picnic at home, but come to 147 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, for tear-jerking ballads and toe-tapping dances! This presentation of the finest in Celtic music is, of course, free of charge!

Cormorant's Fancy, the region's most popular Celtic ensemble will present a free concert at 6 PM on Sunday, August 2. They'll perform heart-rending ballads and toe-tapping dances from Ireland, Scotland and beyond, with two young special guest Irish dancers. Weather permitting, the concert will take place at the outdoor pavilion near the corner of Seminary Ridge and Springs Avenue, on the Gettysburg campus of United Lutheran Seminary, so bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnic and pets. Weather not permitting, it'll still take place, but in the seminary chapel.

Dearest Home brings music from the 19th century to Gettysburg at 6 PM on Sunday, July 26. With fiddle, guitar, bass, and squeezebox, as well as their voices, they bring to life music from the parlors, abolitionist campaigns, and workplaces -- many of them familiar, all of them rousing and heart-rending. Weather permitting, it will be outside on the Gettysburg campus of United Lutheran Seminary, near the corner of Seminary Ridge and Springs Avenue. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, pets and picnics, and settle in for a delightful evening. Weather not permitting, the concert will move to the seminary chapel.

Sunday's concert, at 6 with the Kolodner Quartet will definitely be happening outside. Tomorrow's rain should clear the air and not soak the ground, so bring lawn chairs, blankets, pets and picnics to the corner of Springs Ave. and Seminary Ridge in Gettysburg for a wonderful performance of American Old Timey and Roots music. The Kolodners are coming back to Gettysburg! Ken and Brad will bring friends, banjo, fiddle, hammer dulcimer, and much more on Sunday, July 19 at 6 PM. This great, internationally acclaimed Acoustic Roots Stringband is built on family, innovation, and a shared passion for Old Time music. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket (and a picnic or a pet) to the outdoor pavilion on the seminary campus, near the corner of Springs Avenue and Seminary Ridge for this free concert. If weather makes it necessary, it'll move to the cool and dry confines of the seminary chapel.

Save the Date! At 6 PM on Sunday, July 12, Music, Gettysburg! will present a concert to support the documentary being filmed of Adams County's most famous daughter. Elsie Singmaster Lewars was one of the most popular and honored writers of mid-century America. Her novels and short stories, about Pennsylvania Dutch life, the Civil War, and European history, delighted people of all ages. Now a documentary is being filmed about her life and work.

The concert will take place in the Gettysburg chapel of United Lutheran Seminary, just across the street from the house in which she spent most of her adult life. It will include selections from her stories and letters, as well as music inspired by them, performed by singers Wayne Hill and Susan Hochmiller, violinist Ryan Kozak, organist Jonathan Noel, and several young singers.

Admission is free, and every penny received in the offering will be spent to support the film project.

A dynamic duo! On Sun., June 21 at 4 PM Eric Fennell and James Day will perform "At the Rivers," a concert of music ranging from Schubert lieder to American folk songs. Eric is an internationally renowned tenor who has been thrilling opera audiences in Europe for decades. James is a guitarist and the director of the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College. The concert, which will take place in the air-conditioned splendor of the Gettysburg chapel of United Lutheran Seminary, is free and open to all. They'll be joined by the Gettysburg College Audimus in the Gettysburg chapel of United Lutheran Seminary for a delightful afternoon of youthful exuberance and fine musicianship.
