Adams County Arts Council Our mission is to cultivate an arts-rich community. The mission of the Adams County Arts Council (ACAC) is to cultivate an arts-rich community.

Our core values are creativity, community, and connection with a focus on the future. Through scholarships, classes in fine and performing arts, and partnerships with more than 30 education, arts, policymaking, health, and social organizations, ACAC provides high-quality arts opportunities in areas that are typically underserved in the arts. ACAC uses creativity throughout Adams County to develop and strengthen connections with residents, local businesses, policymakers, and tourists. Our educational programs, community events, and fundraising events ensure that our community can discover the arts tangibly in daily life, making the Adams County Arts Council a must-see arts destination in the region.

Held in ACAC's Reception Hall throughout October is Chris Glatfelter's Legacy Collection, a special exhibition and sale celebrating the life, passion, and lasting impact of former Executive Director Chris Glatfelter.

Following her passing earlier this year, Chris generously left her personal art collection and decades of Arts Council memorabilia to ACAC. The collection includes works by beloved local artists, antique crocks and pottery, and unique items from past ventures such as Déjà Vu and The Leatherettes.

More than an art sale, this exhibition reflects Chris’s deep love for the arts and the creative community she helped foster throughout her many years of service. We are pleased to make these pieces available for purchase, offering supporters a meaningful opportunity to take home a piece of Chris’s legacy while supporting the future of the Arts Council.

Every artist starts somewhere.

At the Adams County Arts Council, we believe every young person deserves the chance to explore the arts. Through summer camps and programming throughout the school year, we offer opportunities to try something new and discover what sparks their creativity. From painting, pottery, and fiber arts to dance, music, culinary arts, and more, students are exposed

These creative opportunities don’t happen by accident. They happen because people invest in them.

Gifts to ACAC help us to provide scholarships that help remove financial barriers, making our summer camps and other creative opportunities accessible to more families.

Help us make sure every young artist has somewhere to start. Give a gift to ACAC ( #7) at the ACCF Giving Spree on November 5.

David Harrison's photography exhibit, "Water: As I See It!," will be held in ACAC's Studio throughout October.

David’s interest in photography began in 1972 with a Pentax 35mm camera. After years of family, work, and life taking priority, he returned to photography in retirement, first photographing landscapes while hiking.

Living in the Poconos, David became fascinated by the streams he encountered and began focusing his picture taking on the water.

This interest in “the water” grew and he began to anticipate how a scene of moving water might look to the camera by changing to a slow shutter speed, or to a fast shutter speed.

This collection features images captured along the creeks of the greater Gettysburg area. Come visit ACAC through October to view this stunning work! 🌿💧📷

This year, the Adams County Arts Council enters a new chapter.

For decades, former Executive Director Chris Glatfelter helped cultivate creativity, connection, and the arts in our community. Her legacy shaped ACAC into a place where artists of all ages can thrive and neighbors can gather through the arts.

Through arts education, exhibitions, public art, opportunities for local artists, and community programs, the Adams County Arts Council continues to cultivate an arts-rich community in Adams County.

On November 5, you can help make sure that legacy continues at the Adams County Community Foundation’s Giving Spree and support local nonprofits with a single gift.

When you make your Giving Spree gift, look for the Adams County Arts Council ( #7 on the donation form).

The seeds have been planted. Help us grow what comes next.
