For those who may not know, Key City Steampunk Presents: Worlds of Tomorrow isn’t just a single weekend event.

Over the past several years, we’ve been building an ongoing world.
A connected storyline filled with strange discoveries, shifting timelines, hidden histories, mysterious figures, and an ever-growing mythology about Key City itself.

Each year’s theme becomes another chapter.

From forgotten times and fractured realities… to the shining promise of 2026’s Worlds of Tomorrow, the story continues to evolve.

But what makes Key City truly special is this.

The storyline doesn’t simply exist in the background.

It directly influences the annual interactive game and event experience that allows the attendees themselves to help determine the direction, and the theme, of next year’s convention.

As part of preparing for 2026, we’ve recently revised and updated the Lore section of the website.

The Vault section will be next, receiving updates as well. The Vault is what we hope to become our “fan fic” section, where the contents come from outside Key City, but still help expand the mythos.

Some attendees have followed the story from the very beginning.
Others are only now discovering there’s more beneath the surface.

And that’s the beauty of it:
You can dive as deep as you want.

Maybe you come for the music, costumes, panels, and community.
Or maybe you begin piecing together the threads hidden throughout the convention.

Either way, Key City has always been about imagination, adventure, and the idea that there is still wonder left in the world.

And in 2026, the portals open once again.

All featured artwork has been created by Chi Studios, whose incredible work has helped bring the world of Key City to life year after year.

The man, the myth, the legend John Strangeway is finding his way back to Key City Steampunk Presents: Worlds of Tomorrow, this August 7th thru the 9th. A true personality we're looking forward to the mirth and mayhem that seems to follow.

John F. Strangeway is a cosplayer, chainmail artist, and convention personality who hails from the Atlanta, Georgia area. Perhaps most well known as the Steampunk Boba Fett, Strangeway has a historied background in cosplay culture, beginning with his humble New Jersey origin story.

Going as far back as ten years old painting his older brother's Warhammer Blood Angels squad while listening to Rush, Strangeway can't remember a time when he wasn't interested in sci-fi and fantasy. From his wide range of fandoms came a Star Wars and Steampunk crossover that would inspire music, fan films, and eventually even get his image officially licenced by Star Wars, thanks to artist Brian Kessinger. Since its 2009 debut at Dragon Con, the Steampunk Boba Fett has redefined both fandoms and gone down in infamy as one of the most widely recognized Steampunk cosplay images.

Thanks to all of this, Strangeway has had the privilege of being invited to most major conventions all across the US, where he has been able to do what he loves the most: make friends from all around the globe, and inspire others to break out of their shell. He has collaborated on 2 short films, a music video, MC'd events, and judged costume contests.

Combining his talents and his passion for being a huge fandom geek, Strangeway is a beloved con personality who is equal parts fanboy, enthusiast and performer, all rolled into one sexy son of a bitch!"

Learn more about John, all our Guests, Vendors, Lore and more over on our website (link in the comments) and be sure you grab your tickets and room reservations while they are still available!

The Science Fair is your chance to showcase the curious contraptions, ray guns, analytical engines, experimental gadgets, and impossible inventions you’ve brought to life. Think of it as a costume contest — but for props, devices, and creations worthy of a mad scientist’s workshop.

Whether your build crackles with retro-futuristic energy, hums with diesel-powered ambition, or looks stolen from an alternate timeline, we want to see it on display.

Interested in participating? Visit the official Key City Steampunk Presents: Worlds of Tomorrow website to review the rules, learn more about the Science Fair, and sign up to enter your creation. While you're there - be sure to check out our Guests, Vendors, the Updated Lore Page (still a work in progress).
