Our story, shared through a mural series.
The community mural is now hanging along the wall surrounding Under The Horizon! Each of these eight pieces represents part of our story, our faith, our love of pottery, and our commitment to serving others.
Here’s a little of the meaning behind each one:
The Apple Tree: Our family’s faith journey and where it all began. The apples represent family members.
Hands Kneading Clay: The process of shaping, forming, and refining clay reflects our own growth, as well as our desire to use this medium to give back.
The Small and Large Cups with Tools: Our pottery classes bring children and adults together to learn, explore, and create. These cups celebrate the many ages and abilities that find a place in our studio.
The Chalice Filled with Money: Creating and selling pottery gives us the means to bless others. As a for-profit business that chooses to give back, what fills our cup helps us pour into our community.
Hands Holding Olive Branches: Represents our community outreach through the many services and programs we offer. The different hands reflect the people we serve, while the olive branches symbolize the hope, peace, and connection we strive to share.
The “Beautifully Broken” Cup: Honoring Cathleen’s sister and our work with survivors of domestic violence, this piece draws on kintsugi—the art of repairing broken pottery. Its repaired cracks and sunrise reflect healing, strength, and the faith that carries us through grief toward wholeness.
The Studio and Bus: Serving with love, near and far. Our building provides a place to gather, while our bus helps carry creativity and connection beyond the studio.
The Cross of Clay Cups: Individual cups come together to form a cross, representing a growing community united in Christ.
This project began in 2019. Every person who creates with us, supports our work, or joins us in serving others helps our story continue.
Thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life.
And a HUGE thank you to
