We are pleased to announce that the Black Rock French Quarter, and all its member camps, are taking their first vacation from Black Rock City, since our founding in 1718!
A few of our luminaries will be on playa, making their homesteads in open camping and ranger stations. Others of us are excited to launch Mussel Beach, an event spanning our favorite spots in California and Nevada...that involves cooking mussels…on a beach. Perhaps there will be oysters, mead, urchins, paella, wine, and whatever experiences our friends and family of twenty years desire to bring?
Our apologies to all of you who asked to join the camp this year, especially the new folks. We truly appreciate your enthusiasm, we are inspired by your eagerness to participate, and we look forward to taking you on in a future year. It is simply a HUGE effort to organize and manage a community like the French Quarter, along with the logistics behind a crawfish boil and cocktails and a bakery and fire roasted coffee and a radio station and gumbo and sushi and a bathhouse and dim sum and a teahouse and hot pot and silent disco and the gambling table and the hundred foot dining table…and we need a break to focus on the rest of our lives!
We can't wait to see you all again, on the playa with the dust, or maybe the playa with the mussels...
