Had a nice day at Frakes School Center today. We did the Tower Tumbler engineering lesson with K-8th grades and then after school we built this mosaic. It’s over 11,000 pieces! Thank you to Ms. Alicia and Partners for Rural Impact for having the Brick Mobile come to your school!

Well, it was a wonderful four days in Harlan, County. The Brick Mobile visited Cawood, Evarts, Rosspoint, and Wallins. We did the zip line challenge at each school and all the students seemed to really enjoy it. It’s a straight forward lesson. They have to design a car that will travel on a zip line the full length of a room and deliver cargo safely to the bottom. It’s great seeing them trying new designs and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Lego bricks are the perfect medium to do lab experiments like this!
To finish the week off we did a mosaic of the Wallins Elementary School logo. It certainly was full week and lots of fun and learning were had.
Thanks so much to Partners for Rural Impact and all the PRI coordinators we work with on these trips. They do an enormous amount of good for their community.

Had a wonderful time at Rosspoint Elementary School in Harlan County the last two days. The students really enjoyed the zip line engineering challenge I gave them. The goal was to build a car that can travel on a zip line the full length of the library and landing safely while carrying some precious cargo. It was great seeing many of them testing and redesigning and testing again. My goal was they go through the process of engineering and understand how Lego bricks are an excellent material to use in a lab setting. Much thanks to Lauren Jones and Partners for Rural Impact for making it possible.
