Congratulations to Sadie Wilhelmy for being selected as one of our two Outstanding 4-H'ers for 2026!
Sadie is an 11-year member of 4-H and in the Ringleaders 4-H Club. Sadie is a member of Junior Leaders, currently serving as Vice President; a member of Junior Fairboard, currently serving as President; a past youth representative on the 4-H Committee; has served one year as a camp counselor; and is a member of the livestock judging team. Sadie is currently serving a second term on the State Teen Leadership Council. Sadie was selected as the 2026 Ohio 4-H Teen of the Year, is currently serving as a National 4-H Roth Leadership Scholar, participated in the 2026 Ohio 4-H Greece Cultural Immersion Program, and was a 2025 Ohio 4-H Achievement Award Winner. Sadie takes a variety of projects, including swine, food and nutrition, and creative arts. Sadie says that one of the most important things she has learned through 4-H is how to see the value in uncertainty, which has led her to say yes to opportunities and step out of her comfort zone and try new things even when means change and charting her own path. A lesson she will take with her the rest of her life. Sadie's nominator said, "While her achievements are impressive, it is her character, servant leadership, and genuine investment in others that truly distinguish her."
The Outstanding 4-H'er is the highest honor we bestow on our Brown County 4-H'ers each year. Two are selected annually. Youth must first be nominated by an advisor, complete an application, and participate in an interview to be selected. We announced awards on Monday night of the fair. Each individual receives physical awards sponsored by the Paul Woods Family and a $500 cash award from the 4-H Committee.
