Seeing this picture front and centre on a post from Channel 9 meant more than I can put into words.
It was a mix of heartwarming, fulfilling, and the immediate thought of 'Ah... Finally!'
The piece was part of a TV Week Magazine poll celebrating 70 years of television and the top 70 Australian TV shows, as voted by the public.
While fans of The Don Lane Show may not be rushing to vote in droves... We can't overlook the impact of this program on entertainment and the Australian cultural landscape.
The Don Lane Show broke down barriers. A-listers were brought into our living rooms, the hottest musical acts in the world performed live, and it remained number one for almost a decade.
David Bowie dropped in for an impromptu interview because it was his favourite Australian show, Kerry Packer kept the show running live while Sammy Davis was escorted to the studio from his gig by police car. Dad rollerskated with the Village People, played tennis with Charlton Heston... It was live to air, anything could happen.
