Finger Lakes Photo/Plays

09/03/2026

Wow! What an event! Thank you to all the artists who participated in Finger Lakes Photo/Plays 2026! In two days, these amazing humans transformed one photo into EIGHT short plays! We were beautifully supported by the staff and volunteers at The Smith Opera House and the enthusiastic audience who joined us for the performance. And Sunday was fueled with coffee and donuts donated by Empire Coffee & Donuts ! Thank you all!

And extra big thanks goes out to this year’s photographer, Tim Wilson. Thanks for sparking our creativity and documenting the process!

That’s a wrap on another year of Photo/Plays!

What happens when you bring together a local photograph by a local photographer and local professional and community theatre artists?

02/24/2026

The good news is that there are a TON of exciting arts events happening this weekend in the Finger Lakes. The bad news is that Finger Lakes Photo/Plays will not be one of them. Due to low enrollment, The Smith Opera House and the producers of Finger Lakes Photo/Plays have made the difficult decision to cancel Photo/Plays Feb. 28-March 1, 2026. When we set the date for this event back in the late summer, we had no idea how action-packed this weekend would end up being for the arts in the region. There are worse reasons to have to cancel, but even so, it’s very disappointing. There are currently no plans to reschedule. Should a new date present itself, we’ll announce on social media.
