Have you noticed it too?

Every time I open Facebook, I see another simple craft video. Some are fun and inspiring… but a lot of them feel like the same project with the same techniques over and over again.

I don’t want Next Chapter Home Decor to be just another page doing what everyone else is doing.

So tell me…

From April of 2025- April of 2026, I refinished over 50 pieces of furniture for clients through my former business Oakwood Exchange.

I’ve since retired from the store but am still working on pieces and working on building up toward providing lives, videos, and classes through this page and my website www.nextchapterhomedecor.com.

This week I am back to work on larger projects I had promised clients prior to my health issues. I’m all healed now and am finishing them up this month.

If you love refinishing, repurposing, and creating, please tune in often. I will be posting here, on my Instagram page, website, and YouTube page all under the name

Over time you find those special people that inspire, nurture, and cheer you on in your creative journey. Everyone’s creative journey is unique. Whether you create for peace and quiet, to express yourself, or to feel inspired by creating unique items. It is definitely a personal journey.

For me, creating gives me calm, peace, and a sense of child-like discovery that seems to be lacking in my adult world.

I love it! I love inspiring others. I love sharing tips, tricks, and techniques to those who already create but I also love to provide others with a time to relax and enjoy the creative process while making something beautiful.

Today I was reminded of this gift I have been given. My background in education and my lifetime of loving crafts has blended into a place where I am blessed to be able to share crafting time with others.

My absolute FAVORITE thing I’ve been blessed to do is provide crafting classes to a group of AMAZINGLY BRAVE breast cancer survivors through a local group of unbelievable women who honored me with hosting countless crafting classes where I actually learned more about life than any crafting lesson could ever provide.

Today I was blessed to meet up with one of those fabulous ladies at our local hospital.

It reminded me of all the wonderful times I had with these strong, courageous and beautiful women who have fought and won the breast cancer journey!

Crafting is so much more than creating home decor. It is therapy and it is a means to bring together a community of people to become friends and people to enrich our lives.

I hope you can join me on this retirement journey to not only create but connect and provide a safe place for conversation, support, and friendship through creating together.

I’m exploring the rebirth of coffee table books. I remember them being a huge deal in the 70’s when I was growing up. Some were huge and some were small and subtle. But I’m having a blast creating some for not only coffee tables but also stacking and displaying. Here’s a few I’ve done lately. Currently exploring covering books with fabric and other mediums.

An old map cabinet I restored a couple of years ago. Check@out the mechanics on the drawers. It enabled the drawers to pull all the way out and stay level, hence map storage. So cool!

We lost our sweet sweet Marleigh a German short Hair Pointer, one we never expected to get but our friends were picking up their puppy with the breeder and our poor Mar Mar’s owner was a no show…so long story short, we gained the most wonderful dog ever. She spent 14 years with us, protecting her siblings, our yard, and comforting us when sickness and sadness overcame us. She was one in a million and will always be an amazing part of our lives. (She’s the brown sweet pea in the video.)
