We’ve got a new show of GORGEOUS mixed media paintings by Susanne Hartke up on our visiting artist wall this September!!! We’re excited to tell you more about each one throughout the month!

Note that our art party for September is a little later than our usual First Friday shindigs - we’ll celebrate Susanne’s works on Friday, September 18th!

An incredibly huge thank you to all you bookmark makers and bookmark buyers out there. 😭😭😭😭 Look what you did!!!

I had this idea for a little bookmark art show to raise money for the library earlier this year and I had no idea what the response would be. I was nervous no one would be interested in making or buying them. Maybe we’d sell 10 bookmarks and make $100 for the library. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would work out this well. 😭 I’m so grateful for everyone who submitted art, spread the word, shared posts, helped hang the show, bought bookmarks, and supported local artists and our library. I love the idea that so many of you are connected in a tiny tiny way via bookmarks and books now. This little community is so wonderful and I’m so glad to call it home. Long live public libraries!!!

As we approach the end of our summer bookmark show, we’re excited to introduce you to our September visiting artist, Susanne Hartke! Susanne’s work has appeared in two of our tiny canvas shows (postcard show and bookmark show) and we’re soooo excited to see a whole wall of her paintings in larger scale!!!

Susanne is a visual artist, graphic designer, and art educator based in Avon, New York. Her paintings are characterized by bold color, layered pattern, and thoughtful composition, drawing inspiration from travel, memory, and everyday experiences.

About the show: “Nifty Fifty” is a body of work created during my 50th year, inspired by the connection between 50 years of life and the 50 states that make up our country. Rather than painting every state, I focused on thirteen that inspired me through personal experiences, memorable travels, or their distinctive landscapes.”

Note that the art party for this exhibit is a bit later in the month than usual!

Huuuuge thank you to everyone who came out tonight to celebrate with us and grab a copy of the new elementary/middle grade novel by Laura Valentino (pictured right)! We poured lots of Lark’s Lavender Lemonades and we sold out of books much faster than we expected, but we’ll get some more in the shop soon, and in the meantime, we’ll share a link in our story where you can buy the book online!

Our hearts are so full…it’s so much fun to see the community come together to celebrate, support, and encourage the creative endeavors of our neighbors. 💜

Join us tomorrow from 6-8pm for a little launch party for this new elementary/middle grade novel written by Geneseo’s very own Laura Valentino and cover design by Joanna Walters.

Laura’s debut novel is inspired by her book-loving daughter, real places and histories in Geneseo like Wadsworth Library and Center Street, and the idea that the books we love can connect us across time.

We’ll have copies of the book available for purchase, the author in attendance to chat about the new novel (and perhaps sign copies!) and some light snacks and refreshments.
