Happy Mother’s Day to my momma. ❤️

Back in the late 90s, she bought me an old computer from a garage sale. It had one of those big 5¼-inch floppy drives and probably looked outdated even back then… but to me, it was magic.

I checked out a book from the library called DOS for Dummies and started learning command prompts and input commands one line at a time. That little computer opened up a whole new world for me. I discovered the game Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? and played it nonstop. I could never actually finish the game because you needed the official book and I didn’t have it… but that never stopped me from trying.

Some of my favorite memories were sitting there while my dad played checkers against the computer. Simple times. Good times.

Looking back now, that old garage sale computer helped shape my passion for electronics, gaming, and everything I still love and do today. From restoring old games to building arcade machines, it all traces back to those moments.

Funny how something so small can change the course of your life.

This custom arcade build became even more meaningful thanks to Smoky Mountain Bullet Banjos helping bring the vision to life. What started as wood, tools, and ideas turned into a one-of-a-kind machine that blends Appalachian grit, arcade nostalgia, and mountain music culture all into one design.

The burned wood finish, the custom marquee, the banjo-playing bear… every detail tells a story about East Tennessee creativity and craftsmanship.

I’m Johnithan Beard—born in 1985, right in the middle of a world shifting from k***s and dials to screens and code. I grew up fascinated by electronics… not just using them, but wondering what kind of magic was happening inside the box.

That curiosity never left. It turned into a passion, then a degree in electronics engineering, and eventually the foundation for Beard’s Billiards & Games.

Today, that same drive fuels everything I do—whether it’s bringing arcade machines back to life, building custom setups, or dialing in a perfect pool table so it plays just right. To me, it’s more than just games… it’s craftsmanship, precision, and creating something people can gather around and enjoy.

I’m a product of both worlds—analog roots with a digital mindset—and that’s exactly what Beard’s Billiards & Games is built on.
