Who would imagine that a pink, chatty flamingo could live in the Great Smoky Mountains, but many have seen one. The legends abound of "Gussie Mae" and her co-hort, "Bootsie", an angel with oftentimes saggy wings. I heard tell they were both spotted near "Dollywood", just about dark, last June! Three visitors almost careened off that back road when those two feathered creatures flew over the hood o

f the silver pickup from Georgia! Alongside this whimsical, animated art featuring these two characters, Jann paints more traditional watercolors, primarily on YUPO paper. Jann Peitso invokes the creative spirit in all of us to bubble forth onto some form of paper and become "something" to stir our imagination or to just "tickle our funny bone".

Don’t forget to register for "Hands On" Watercolor Workshops - time is running out!
Fri, May 1 (10:30-1 pm) (4:30-7 pm)
Sat, May 2 (4:30-7 pm)
Sun, May 3 (10:30-1 pm)
Many of you look forward as do I, to the fun experience of creating a new watercolor project each year. May 2026 explores "you can watercolor on anything with a bit of prep and a different finish"!
These two projects teach just that concept.
*May 1: we paint on 2 Japanese Washi Paper mounted on 3x3 gold-rimmed Shikishi Boards.
Easels are included.
*May 2 and 3: a 3x3 Bamboo Lid for a Candle Jar (included) shows another method of watercolor preservation.
All workshops are $55 which includes all materials.

Workshop fees will be accepted by

14 years of age and older.
