One of the Adkins Rollman Gallery Owner/Artists, Charlotte Rollman, decided to capture the gallery roses on a beautiful Smoky Mountain spring day. Charlotte's painting adventure began with a blank 30 x 40 canvas, colorful acrylic paint, and a beautiful view of the rose garden just outside of the gal...

Charline is a long time friend and student from Kentucky that has enjoyed painting classes 9 times including Plein Air classes in the last 4 years. We painted Friday and she stayed with me all day at the Gallery as she does not drive. We had a great time together.

Here is my painting from Elkmont painting out with Tuesday Painter on April 28 2026. It’s 96% done, just a few minor details left!!! It’s 16 x 20 oil on linen. The title is “Historic Daisy Village”. It was completed in 4 & 1/2 hours on site using Plein Air methods and techniques that I learned in a Kathie Odom workshop two weeks ago. I would not have attempted anything this large outdoors before Kathie’s workshop.

It’s that time of year again. I gear up for teaching art lessons at Adkins Rollman Gallery. I teach by appointment only and introduce students to oil painting in two ways, in the gallery from pictures or Plein Air painting outdoors on location. I charge $40 per hour in the gallery and $50 per hour for a Plein Air experience. Each is a minimum of 3 hours, longer if needed! I supply everything you need for the lesson unless you want to bring your own supplies. Call for an appointment 256-738-7569 and leave a message I will return your call. I try to schedule on Sunday or Monday or after hours in the evening when the Gallery is closed.

Here is my student Grace, we recently completed her art lesson and she enjoyed learning new techniques for painting in oil.

It was a good day at the Adkins Rollman Gallery Friday 27th , we sold 3 original Paintings. Here’s a picture of a happy art collector. I should have originally said both of these paintings were done Plein Air in Cades Cove at the same location near Hyatt Lane. Charlotte’s beautiful, beautiful painting was from the west side of the walnut trees and the daffodils looking east. My painting was of the very same trees but painted from the opposite side a year apart. We love painting the same subject but in our own styles and hanging them together in our Gallery. I think this was a first time a collector has bought them both.
