🎉 A dream years in the making is now a reality. Hudson Valley Shakespeare’s new home, the Samuel H. Scripps Theater Center, is officially open!🎭

On May 14 , following a joyful ribbon cutting ceremony in Garrison, NY, Hudson Valley Shakespeare celebrated the culmination of a seven-year journey to create the company’s very first permanent home and theater.

Artistic Director Davis McCallum, Managing Director Kendra Ekelund, members of the Board, staff, and the 2026 Acting Company were joined by an extraordinary community of supporters, artists, civic leaders, and partners who helped bring this vision to life. Guests included representatives from the Samuel H. Scripps Foundation and the Scripps family, New York State Council on the Arts, and regional leaders, the teams from Studio Gang, Consigli Construction, Nelson Byrd Woltz, About The Work, and so many members of the design and planning team, and our extended artistic family.

The celebration included remarks from project leaders and supporters, and a special excerpt from As You Like It, the very first performance in the new theater.

This moment marks not just the opening of a building, but the beginning of a new chapter for Hudson Valley Shakespeare: a permanent home for storytelling, community, and transformative theater in the Hudson Valley for generations to come.
