The Towne Players of Garner

The Towne Players of Garner Garner's Premiere Community Theatre

The Towne Players was formed in 1998 as a means of increasing the awareness of the performing arts in Garner and Wake County. Run by a governing board made up of citizens from Garner, North Carolina and the greater Triangle area, the Towne Players produce four theatrical plays each year and offer theatre classes for children. As a community theatre, we depend upon many people who enjoy the beauty and sense of community that an organization can bring.

We had three happy audiences this weekend and nice comments on our set for The Savannah Sipping Society. Now there are two performances left, this Friday at 8:00 PM and Saturday at 2:00 PM.
We'll strike the set immediately after the Saturday show around 4:00 PM.
We would appreciate your help. If you'd like to see the final performance reply that you would and I'll put you on the "Admit for Strike List" at the Box office.
In order to get get ready for strike we need to prepare the Cannery.
The plan is to get the Cannery rearranged, put up some shelves we've had standing by for a while, empty the POD and move the flats from the GPAC loading dock back to the Cannery, all before strike on Saturday.
We'll work Wednesday afternoon around 5:00 and Thursday afternoon also around 5:00.
Please respond with when you can help. In each case these jobs will go faster with many hands.
Thank you for being a part of The Towne Players. It's the pleasant people who make this all worthwhile.

A big thank you to Beth Honeycutt, Don Kelly, and Paul Bryant for their hard work last Saturday. We came very close to completing the first phase of the Cannery clean out, but we have a bit more to do.
This coming Saturday, February 26, the Towne Players will be working at the Cannery at 9:00 AM to move flats to temporary storage on the GPAC Loading Dock so the Cannery can be properly treated for pests. We could use your help if you have a couple of hours. I anticipate finishing no later than 1:00 PM, though I'm not certain we have enough work to last that long.
If you will, please reply "I'll be there" via DM to A. Scott Honeycutt or to this post. Thank you in advance for your help.

02/17/2022

Hello,
I hope you are doing well.
The Towne Players need help this weekend preparing the Cannery to be treated for insects in March.
Our job is to clear a 4' wide path away from the walls all the way around the interior of the building.
We'll move all the flats and items at the entrance of the building to a POD unit adjacent to the building, clear out the rooms where items are stored and discard unneeded pieces. With that in mind we have a few office desks available if you or someone you know needs one.
We will be able to move stuff to the center of the building but there are items in the Cannery that we can discard and better organize as we prepare to get back into creating productions. You'll need work gloves and if you have a pickup truck you're welcome to bring it.
We have rented one POD if we fill it and still require more space we will have another one come for next weekend.
Please message me (A. Scott Honeycutt) if you plan to help. This will be fun!

Regards,
A. Scott Honeycutt

11/01/2021

We're back with Music Theatre International's musical review "All Together Now"
We'll have one performance on Friday, November 12 with a live stream and two shows on Saturday, November 13.
This production is running concurrently with other theaters nationwide.
It's a show that's a celebration of and welcome back to the theater.
It has fifteen classic show stopping numbers from MTI's roster of Broadway productions.

We'll be doing a one day Load In this coming Sunday November 7
We're scheduled 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM but may be in as early as noon.
It all depends on the weather, the GPAC is the rain location for a concert scheduled Sunday on the GPAC's Lawn.
If there's no rain we'll start at the earlier time.

Our Load In is simple...
We need to arrange platforms (already down from the mezzanine thanks to Jon Shearin at the GPAC).
We need to cut, paint and skirt the platforms with paneling
We may need to move the C*clorama to a pipe downstage.
We have a Microphone plot to set up and get ready.
We also will be preparing for a projector to rear project onto the C*c for this show's multimedia elements.

We are committed to a safe environment. We will be wearing masks and using as much ventilation as possible while we work and we're asking for volunteers who have the Covid-19 vaccination.
No children please.

Please respond to this post if you are able to help.
We are looking forward to bringing live performance back to our GPAC audience.

It will be great to see you and it is very exciting to be back on stage in front of people.
