Tonight, we were excited to attend GHV Softball and GHV Baseball youth night!! This evening is about much more than wins and losses. It is about learning, growing, building character, and understanding what it truly means to be part of a team.

For our young athletes, we hope tonight provides inspiration as you watch the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship displayed by our varsity players. For our varsity athletes, we hope this is a reminder that you are role models, leaders, and an example of what can be achieved through commitment, perseverance, and teamwork.

Athletics teach lessons that extend far beyond the field—how to support one another, overcome challenges, celebrate successes, and become the best teammate you can be. Those lessons connect every player here tonight, regardless of age.

Garner Parks and Recreation would like to extend a sincere thank you to the GHV coaches, players, administration, and families for making this opportunity possible. Your support helps create meaningful experiences that inspire the next generation of athletes.

🌟 MEET THE STAFF: TRISTYN FORMANEK AKA T🌟

If you’ve stopped by the VMRC in the last 8 months, chances are you’ve met Tristyn — especially if you enjoy good conversation or clean laundry. 🧺😂

Tristyn’s favorite part of working at VMRC? Talking to people and doing laundry… which honestly makes her sound about 87 years old in the best possible way. ❤️

Here’s a little more about her:

🍔 If she had to eat one food forever: Cheeseburgers
(Doctors hate this one simple life plan.)

🗽 Bucket list trip: New York City
She’s ready for the bright lights, big city, and probably a $14 slice of pizza.

📺 If she could live in any TV show/movie: *The Summer I Turned Pretty*
Main character energy only.

💬 Best advice she could give: “Be kind to everyone.”
Simple. Solid. Hard to argue with.

✍️ One thing she wishes she learned sooner: Cursive writing
Because signing your name like a founding father just feels important.

🪂 Something she wants to try: Skydiving
Apparently folding towels all day isn’t enough adrenaline anymore.

🦁 Would she rather live in a zoo or amusement park?
The zoo. Less screaming. Probably.

🧥 Hard life choice: Wear an itchy sweater or shoes too small?
She’s taking the itchy sweater… because tiny shoes are a crime against humanity.

A community does not thrive because of recognition, titles, or praise — it thrives because of individuals who quietly step up simply because they care.

We are incredibly grateful for the community-minded people who volunteer their time, energy, and talents for the betterment of everyone around them. Whether it’s helping at events, supporting programs, maintaining spaces, coaching youth, lending a hand behind the scenes, or simply showing up when needed — your efforts make a difference.

So many acts of service happen without expectation of acknowledgment, and while they may not always be seen publicly, they are deeply appreciated. Strong communities are built by people willing to give of themselves for the good of the whole, and we are fortunate to have so many who do exactly that.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and supporters for helping make our community a better place and a special thanks to these guys for getting our additional softball field scoreboard up.
