Danny Maldonado explains why choosing your tattoo artist based solely on price can sometimes cost you much more in the long run.
We understand it—tattoos can be expensive. But remember, a tattoo is permanent. It’s not something you can return, exchange, or easily undo if you’re unhappy with the result.
Throughout their careers, our artists have done countless cover-ups and reworks for clients who originally chose a cheaper option.
Maybe it was a friend who offered to do it for half the price. Maybe it was an artist who simply charged less.
But when the tattoo didn’t turn out the way they wanted, they were left paying even more to fix, rework, or cover it.
When you invest in a tattoo, you’re not just paying for the time the artist spends tattooing you.
You’re paying for their experience, artistic ability, technical knowledge, design process, equipment, sanitation, attention to detail, and years of perfecting their craft.
If you can’t comfortably afford the tattoo you really want, wait and save for it.
Do your research. Look at portfolios. Look at healed work. Find an artist who specializes in the style you want.
Because saving a few hundred dollars today isn’t necessarily saving money if you end up spending thousands tomorrow fixing it.
Don’t shop for the cheapest tattoo. Shop for the right artist.
