In our 2025-26 season, we sang, danced, and reveled in the 2nd annual Alley Palooza. We journeyed to the prairie and searched for beautiful mornings in Oklahoma! We adventured to the Puget Sound on the search for community, and whales in Deep Blue Sound. And we stared down monsters at the drive-in with Monsters of the American Cinema.

And we did it together as a community, artists and audience alike!

The Alley Repertory staff and board thanks you for an amazing season and joining the ride with us. We appreciate your kindness, compassion, joy, and support through it all. We could not have done it without you, our faithful audience and community. You continue to inspire us and help us bring magic to the Treasure Valley!

With that in mind: Idaho Gives 2026 is upon us! Designed to bring the state together, Idaho Gives raises money and awareness for nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Idaho. Whether $5 or $500, your donation contributes to props, sets, supplies, food to pay our crew during long tech hours, costumes, and much, much, more.

Three chances left to see MONSTERS OF THE AMERICAN CINEMA by Christian St. Croix at Visual Arts Collective

“The Good Time. We’re open six nights a week…we play the classics. Casablanca. Psycho. Citizen Kane…Our biggest nights are the Monster Movie Double Features.” - Remy, Monsters of the American Cinema

Monsters of the American Cinema tells the story of Remy Washington (Thomas Miller) and Peter “Pup” Miller (Nathan Pearce). After his husband’s death, Remy, a Black man, inherits a drive-in movie theater and takes on the unexpected responsibility of raising his late-husband’s straight, white teenage son, Pup. The two form a bond over their shared love of classic monster movies but soon, their connection begins to fracture and the real horrors start to emerge.

Three showtimes remain: April 30, May 1, & May 2. All performances begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Come early (and stay after) for a drink, a little popcorn, and enjoy the final production of our 2025-26 season.

Monsters of the American Cinema is proudly presented by Voices from the Alley. Voices from the Alley is a platform to support unique and diverse theater makers in Boise, aiming to curate dynamic cultural conversations to deeply tether and strengthen our community.

Do not miss your chance to see the haunting and funny Monsters of the American Cinema by Christian St. Croix

This tender tale of fatherhood, loss, and love has performances now through May 2. Featuring Thomas Miller and Nathan Pearce. Directed by Dakotah (Dax) Brown.

When Remy Washington inherits a run-down drive-in movie theater, he doesn’t just inherit a screen and a parking lot—he also takes on the unexpected responsibility of raising his late husband’s straight, white teenage son.

A Black gay man, Remy desperately wants to do right by Pup, but in an age of social media, racism, and homophobia, the challenge is steep. Creatures from the Deep Lagoon might be their only hope.

All performances at Visual Arts Collective in Garden City.

Dear Alley Rep Audience:

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Alley Repertory Theater is postponing Monsters of the American Cinema by one week.
The play will now preview on Thursday, April 23, and run April 24, 25, 26, 30, May 1, and 2.

All ticketholders for the canceled performances on April 16, 17, and 18 will receive a full refund. It is our sincere hope that those affected will consider joining us on another evening—we would love to share this story with you. Monsters of the American Cinema is funny, moving, and an important conversation about acceptance and love.

In the spirit of producing great theater while honoring both the stories we tell and the safety of the artists who bring them to life, we offer our deepest apologies for any inconvenience this change may cause. We know how busy life is, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who makes time for the theater.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support. We can’t wait to welcome you.

With gratitude,
Alley Repertory Theater
