Come on down to Visual Arts Collective this Saturday (August 1) for Heart and Heat: a night of Piano & Pairings featuring Chad Spears

World‑traveled pianist Chad Spears takes the keys for an intimate Summer Nights set. He opens the evening with original contemporary works—rich, expressive, and full of feeling. As the night deepens, Chad is joined by some of Boise’s favorite vocalists for a second set that drifts from heartfelt songs to spicier selections -- music with just enough heat to match the season. Each set is paired with thoughtfully crafted cocktails designed to echo the mood—lush, layered, and a little indulgent.

Join Chad and special guest vocalists Jodi Eichelberger, Sandy Santa Cruz, Alaggio Laurino, Bren Trotter, Kendra Kae, and Maria Carmichael for an unforgettable night - elegant, intimate, and just a little bit electric. A summer of jazz, gin, a sing-a-along, and classic films with Alley Rep & Visual Arts Collective!

This July and August, Alley Rep and Visual Arts Collective bring to the VAC Lounge a summer series of entertainment. Hit the high notes with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John at the Grease Sing-a-long. Enjoy the piano tunes of Alley Rep favorite Chad Spears, along with special guests, including Alley Rep stalwarts Jodi Eichelberger (Merrily We Roll Along, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Jodi Sings Judy), Alaggio Laurino (Cabaret, Merrily We Roll Along, Indecent), and Bren Trotter (Oklahoma!, Hair). Get jazzy with Alley Rep friends Kitchen Syncopation, and enjoy a classic film Casablanca.

In our 2025-26 season, we sang, danced, and reveled in the 2nd annual Alley Palooza. We journeyed to the prairie and searched for beautiful mornings in Oklahoma! We adventured to the Puget Sound on the search for community, and whales in Deep Blue Sound. And we stared down monsters at the drive-in with Monsters of the American Cinema.

And we did it together as a community, artists and audience alike!

The Alley Repertory staff and board thanks you for an amazing season and joining the ride with us. We appreciate your kindness, compassion, joy, and support through it all. We could not have done it without you, our faithful audience and community. You continue to inspire us and help us bring magic to the Treasure Valley!

Three chances left to see MONSTERS OF THE AMERICAN CINEMA by Christian St. Croix at Visual Arts Collective

“The Good Time. We’re open six nights a week…we play the classics. Casablanca. Psycho. Citizen Kane…Our biggest nights are the Monster Movie Double Features.” - Remy, Monsters of the American Cinema

Monsters of the American Cinema tells the story of Remy Washington (Thomas Miller) and Peter “Pup” Miller (Nathan Pearce). After his husband’s death, Remy, a Black man, inherits a drive-in movie theater and takes on the unexpected responsibility of raising his late-husband’s straight, white teenage son, Pup. The two form a bond over their shared love of classic monster movies but soon, their connection begins to fracture and the real horrors start to emerge.

Three showtimes remain: April 30, May 1, & May 2. All performances begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Come early (and stay after) for a drink, a little popcorn, and enjoy the final production of our 2025-26 season.

Monsters of the American Cinema is proudly presented by Voices from the Alley. Voices from the Alley is a platform to support unique and diverse theater makers in Boise, aiming to curate dynamic cultural conversations to deeply tether and strengthen our community.

Lexi Johns (she/her) is a Boise-based actor and stage manager. Her recent credits include stage managing and understudying in Othello with The Boise Bard Players. You can catch her acting as “Jane” in The Luminary Theatre’s upcoming production of Funnie: The Most Lamentable Comedie of Jane the Foole. When she’s not acting, you can find her doing community work or playing cozy farming games. She thanks you for supporting local theatre and hopes you enjoy the show!
