The Stencil Pusher - Art by Tara Boaldin

The Stencil Pusher - Art by Tara Boaldin Photo-realistic artwork with a mix of contemporary stenciling The first piece I worked on was on a large canvas. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I do.

I stumbled upon the use of stencils while looking for a more contemporary background for some flower paintings I had done. I needed something that would add to the picture in a subtle way and yet still be effective as a whole art piece. Through some experimentation with stencils, I found that I really liked the effect and got great feedback from those who had seen the paintings. Due to work and other distractions, I took a hiatus from painting, but returned in anticipation for my retirement. I had the background painted and had an animal added to the foreground, but afterwards decided that I detested the plain background, so I dug out my stencils, scrounged up a couple cans of spray paint, and went to work. When I was done, people loved what I had created, and I haven’t put the stencils down since. From there, I learned how to integrate them into almost every piece of artwork I make. Recreating something in its most realistic form is a challenge, but I enjoy challenging myself even more by experimenting with the stencils to create whimsical pieces.
