Something is moving through the station. Steel tracks. Late nights. Good food. Classic drinks. Art on the walls. Stories in the corners.

We’re excited to welcome featured artist, Mid the Pines Productions into the space alongside a collection of artists, collectors, and beautifully STRANGE things finding their home here.

And soon, a sneak peek at Chef David’s late-night southern menu. Comfort food done right.

The energy building in here is hard to explain. Put June 13th on your calendar and come find out!

You’ve been waiting to know… and here it is!!!

This June, the historic National Hotel Artist Lofts will welcome a new concept into the former Proletariat Gallery space. An immersive gathering place centered around art, nostalgia, cocktails, vintage finds, and community.

The project is a collaboration between Becky Major and Julie Birsinger alongside Brad Stringer of Daiquiri Time Out and Pineapple Parlor. Together, the team is blending updated dive-bar culture with the creative spirit and community-driven arts programming that defined the space for the past decade.

The bar program, Earline’s Downtown Dive, is inspired by Brad’s great grandmother Earline, who owned a liquor store in Nacogdoches. Styled in what Brad calls “East Texas Chic,” the space aims to feel like stepping into Earline’s store during the years it was open. Timeless, welcoming, nostalgic, and a little rough around the edges in the best possible way. Chef David Gilkison has created a southern-inspired menu rooted in comfort food and late-night favorites. Alex Gonzalez of Creative Combinations and Stringer designed the bar space.

The re-envisioned interior, curated by Becky Major and Taylor McCreery under the name By the Interior, will function as a living collection featuring vintage furniture, curiosities, lighting, books, and works by local artists with most of the space itself available for purchase.

Rooted in the history of the building while evolving into something entirely new, the project is designed to foster connection through art, gathering, storytelling, and shared experience.

Grand Opening: June 13, 2026

In the days and nights of our dear friend, Taylor, helping us paint she said something that’s resonated thru this whole evolution and that was, “it’s a community braid”. What she meant by that is there are so many people weaving together to make this next chapter happen and it’s so true.

Stay tuned, the BIG announcement of what we are doing is coming today and WE ARE THRILLED TO SHARE IT WITH YOU!!!!

Part 2: Gilding the Column

Bob & Judy live upstairs at The National Hotel Artist Lofts and have worked as art conservators since the 70s. They have worked all over with one of the many notable projects being the Statue of Liberty.

Getting to learn from them while working on this column has been such an incredible honor. There’s something really special about being taught by people who have dedicated their lives to preservation, craftsmanship, and care for historic spaces in art.

Our amazing pals over at MOD Coffeehouse are now the keepers of the coffee neon! We love this community and can’t wait to see yall again in June! XO💙

We are SO happy to have inherited this amazing neon sign from our friends at The Proletariat and Becky Major - it's an honor to keep pieces of Galveston's downtown in our community! ❤️

Gratitude for every team member. Every artist. Every regular. Every believer. You made The Proletariat what it was. Today we close this chapter with full hearts and open hands.

Chapter 3 is ahead of us. We’re stepping into it with experience, clarity, and a whole lot of fire. I hope you’ll walk into it with us. Come by today. Share a drink. Share a hug. Let’s honor what was and make space for what’s next.
