We welcome art lovers, shoppers, and artists to visit our gallery, join as a member, and support our artists. We have member shows monthly, and juried shows three times per year. Membership starts at just $40 a year.
This month's Member Show features the photography and digital art of Matt Logmann, as well as original works by more than thirty other Regional artists. Though you can see and purchase the entries online, art is best experienced in person. The gallery is open each Thursday through Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.
Award-winning artist Matt Logmann, our Featured Artist this month, has been a photographer for forty-eight years. From darkroom to digital, his images relate to his ideas of form and message. He makes his own prints in order to maintain control of the image. Come see and shop Matt's beautiful work and that of dozens of other Regional artists Thursday-Sunday noon-6 and online 24/7.
This next weekend is the last that Kathy Bolton's wonderful paintings will be on full display as our Artist of the Month. They are gorgeous! Would brighten up an entire room.
The Featured Artist for the July Show is Kathy Bolton. Bolton's "Yard Sale" is a delightful bright spot on a drizzly day. Most of Bolton's work focuses on the natural world, and she describes painting as " "an active pursuit of that feeling of peace and connection to the land." Boltons paintings will add a touch of peace to your home. The July Member Show opens tomorrow! Come see works by dozens of GAL artists Thursdays through Sundays noon-6. This fabulous photograph by Pat Jakobi is aptly titled "2+2=2 Whistling Ducks." At the GAL Gallery you can find ready-to-hang original art by local artists at great prices. Come find your new work of art!
The June member show featuring David Wheeler has been taken down and the July show featuring wonderful Texas landscape artist, Kathy Bolton, is going up and will be opening this coming Thursday, June 29, noon to 6:00, 2117 Postoffice.

Its a big week! Our June Member Show opens today at noon and runs through June 25, Thursdays-Sundays noon-6pm. Be sure to visit the Gallery this Saturday during ArtWalk 6-9pm,, which is a community celebration of art with music, libations, and community gatherings. Finally, we welcome summer with this watercolor "Peace" by Diane Owen.
The Gallery is now open THURSDAY through Sunday noon-6. "A Beautiful Ride" by Rebekah Thompson is a great example of how Digital Art can take you to unexpected places. Digital Art is now one of the categories in our juried shows, where every entry is a winner. Just two weekends are left to see this wonderful juried show.

The annual Student Art Competition at the gallery was wonderful. A large crowd of very excited kids and their friends and family.

Artwalk is Saturday 6-9. Stop by the Gallery to see the work of Robb McGee, the Featured Artist for April, and original art works by more than thirty other Regional Artists. This is McGee's "Port View," one of several outstanding landscapes. McGee's subjects are wide-ranging and playful. Come enjoy the scene noon-6 through Sunday and Artwalk this Saturday.

Happy to announce my photograph of a Cooper’s Hawk won 1st place last week in the Annual FeatherFest Photo Competition! 🥇I titled it “Breakfast of Champions” As you can see by the glare on it’s face there would be no sharing! I actually took this in our backyard. You just never know when a photo opportunity will happen.

Today we remember the life and gifts of John Cotter, a long-time member of the Galveston Art League. John was a talented local artist who could capture nature through the lens of a camera or on a canvas with his oil paintings, as here with "Marker 41 Great Egret." He also taught art classes in various venues in the area. We are grateful for John's many contributions to the Arts and to the lives of so many others.
This is the last weekend to view our March Member Show featuring "Spring on the Dunes" and other works by Susan Pinkerton. Take an Art Break Friday-Sunday noon-6 to see original works by over thirty Regional artists.
Today we remember the life and art of Jane Allensworth, a former President of the Galveston Art League. Jane was an accomplished artist, having studied at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and at the Art Students League in New York. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States. A retrospective of her work is scheduled at the McClain Gallery in Houston from March 25 through May 6. We are grateful for her many contributions to the Arts in Galveston. Pictured here, "Black Mesa."

The City of Galveston is putting up $70,000 for a project in the downtown cultural arts district and another $30,000 for a project that could go anywhere in the city.
