Step into the shadows of The Grand and experience the magic of silent cinema as it was meant to be seen—and heard. Before digital sound and special effects, silent film stars captivated audiences with nothing more than expression, movement, and music—bringing to life unforgettable stories of romance, comedy, adventure, and horror. Continuing a beloved Halloween tradition, organist Rob Landes returns with his one-of-a-kind evening of bringing the 1925 Universal Pictures masterpiece The Phantom of The Opera to life. This adored film relies entirely on visual acting, English intertitles (subtitles), and its unique musical score. The Phantom of The Opera is highly celebrated for its gothic atmosphere and actor Lon Chaney’s groundbreaking, self-applied horror makeup.

Experience the magic as Landes’ live accompaniment breathes new life into this suspenseful masterpiece.

Launched in 2016, The Concert Truck is redefining how people experience live music by bringing world-class chamber music directly into everyday spaces—city streets, parks, schools, and neighborhoods.

At its heart is a box truck transformed into a fully equipped mobile concert hall, complete with lights, a professional sound system, and a grand piano. This innovative stage makes it possible for world-class artists to share exceptional performances outside traditional venues, creating unexpected, welcoming encounters with music. By meeting people where they are, The Concert Truck strengthens community connections, inspires new audiences, and demonstrates that live music can thrive anywhere a truck can park. Founded by pianists Susan Zhang and Nick Luby, The Concert Truck entered a new chapter in 2027 when it was acquired by the Seattle Chamber Music Society (SCMS), an organization that shares its mission of making chamber music welcoming and accessible to all. Now a core SCMS program, The Concert Truck continues to advance its mission of accessibility, engagement, and artistic excellence with renewed support —turning spontaneous outdoor moments into lasting connections with music and community.

Welcoming (back) "Tranquilo", Paco's "Turtles About Town" series piece to the neighborhood. Thank you to the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce for today's special ribbon cutting! 🎀

🐢 Have you noticed that Galveston is home to 50+ colorful Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle statues all around the island? Businesses and organizations sponsor the "Turtles About Town" while local artists are commissioned to give each one its own personality and meaning. Rudy & Paco's Restaurant and Bar's turtle on Postoffice Street carries a special message honoring owner Paco Vargas' Nicaraguan roots as he fled his war-torn home country in 1978 to later open Rudy & Paco.
