FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gallup Welcomes Big Texan Steak Ranch and Route 66 Centennial Caravan

Gallup, New Mexico - Gallup will host the Big Texan Steak Ranch, the National Route 66 Centennial Caravan, and the New Mexico Route 66 Association for a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the Route 66 Centennial you do not want to miss.

The event begins with the world-famous Big Texan 72-Ounce Steak Challenge Road Show slated for 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at Courthouse Square, 215 W. Aztec Ave. As one of America's most iconic food challenges, the legendary steak-eating competition is traveling the Mother Road as part of the Centennial, bringing excitement and nostalgia to communities across the country.

The Rex Museum will offer extended hours until 7 p.m. providing guests an opportunity to explore Gallup's Route 66 Exhibit and learn about the city's unique role in the history of America's Main Street.

Visitors are also encouraged to stop by the historic El Morro Theatre, Gallup's beautifully restored 1928 landmark. Operated by the City of Gallup, the theatre continues to serve as a vibrant center for films, performing arts, and community events, offering another opportunity to experience Gallup's rich cultural heritage during the evening's festivities.

Following the Steak Challenge, the Summer Indian Dances program will begin with the Northern Southern Jemez Dance Group, sharing traditional songs, dances, and cultural expressions that have become a treasured part of Gallup's summer experience.

Join us as we celebrate 100 years of Route 66 and experience the culture, history, and hospitality that make Gallup the Heart of Indian Country and a treasured destination along the Mother Road.

All of these events are free and open to the public. For more information, go to www.visitgallup.com or call (505) 863-1227.
