Yes, what you’re thinking is exactly what happened.
Grab a drink, take a seat, and I hope you stay til the end.
I bought my ticket last night and it was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made. Although I don’t know if I actually will be able to go or not, the presale ticket is worth it to me. I hope that I have the opportunity to meet and talk with the creative people and businesses of this community.
Since joining this community on Instagram 7 months ago of DIYers, makers, and woodworkers, I have only been met with friendly smiles and open arms. I am very thankful to have met amazing people who are willing to go out of their way to offer advice and inspiration. Building these relationships are important to me as I transition out of the Army this fall. Being able to find a sense of purpose/identity and build relationships in another community that is tight-knit is invaluable for every Veteran. I hope to one day, give back to fellow service members who want to discover a new passion or hobby (if you have experience with non-profits, please reach out. I would love to discuss). With occupations and priorities shifting, I am wanting to take this passion more seriously, develop my skills more, and make an impact in this community.
Some of you may know that I attended my first “maker meet-up” this past weekend at the Maker’s Playground hosted by and .woodworks . I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, but my expectations were surpassed. This group of like-minded individuals were some of the nicest people I have met.
