When one door closes, another opens. Tonight, I announced that Doorway Arts Ensemble is uniting with Ally Theatre Company. I am so excited about the future of Ally Theatre Company and the company is in good hands with Ty Hallmark. Being the Artistic Director of Doorway Arts Ensemble was a privilege and I thank Claire Myles for creating a strong foundation and trusting me to lead this fantastic company. Thanks to all of the donors that have supported Doorway Arts over the years and I encourage you to visit Ally Theatre Company about ways to support their unique mission. I also would like to thank the board of directors of Doorway Arts, specifically Kelly Baccala. I had many co-conspirators with Doorway and most importantly was Mary Cat Gill who always challenged me to think outside of the box. Another thanks goes to my artistic mentors Michael Dove and Jenny McConnell Frederick who were always available to offer advice and support. I will be staying on with Ally Theatre Company as an Artistic Ally and adviser and also a member of the board during this transition. I will be working closely with Ty to support the production of local playwrights. Personally and professionally, I will be shifting my focus to building the DC Q***r Theatre Festival and doing more freelance directing. Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement and I look forward to this new partnership with Ally and for the new opportunities that await.
