I bought two full price tickets for shows that I have comps to attend as choreographer. For those that know ...now you know. THEY SOME GOOOOOOOOD shows to get my cash ( that equal a really good bottle of wine or 2 nice bottles).
Things to note:
people die in both
singing is insane in both
the choreo is really cute in both
ones is a parody and one is a paradox
The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals - CJ PRODUCTIONS and Sweeney Todd at Rockville Musical Theatre
both got my money.

ROLES
All roles are open and unpaid
Looking to multi-culturally cast an amazing ensemble piece.

Cast:
Dotty (female 60+ African American) The character is a Martha Stewart meets Claire Huxtable type: obsessive, almost compulsive,
and thinking lightning quick. She is the matriarch of the family who is losing her memory and sense of home.
Shelly (female 40+ African American), Dotty’s daughter, is a lawyer. She is the oldest daughter and a single mother who looks after Dot
at the expense of her own legal career.
Jackie (female 40+ Caucasian /European Descent) Jewish; ex-girlfriend to Donnie. A former next-door neighbor now living in NYC is back to visit, staying in her parents’ home that she hasn’t sold since they passed. She holds a secret affection for Donnie, lost in her own self-worth and identity.
Donnie (male 40+ African American) married to Adam; son of Dot; handsome, masculine, fit; plays piano. Middle child struggling
(unemployed) music critic and writer who lives in NYC.
Adam (40+ Caucasian/ Latin/ other descent) is married to Donnie, a buff specimen of a man, a little lost in the identity battle. Fighting to be seen in a relationship. Focus on discretion is more than being seen, though loves openly and helps guide Donnie into the now. Unaware of Jackie’s crush.
Averie (female 30+ African American) Youngest daughter of Dot; brash, aspiring actress who’s been crashing in the basement while
money is tight.
Fidel (male 18+, European descent) caretaker of Dot; good-looking, caring, a watcher of the dynamic in the family, helpful, and soul-searching.

What I will give you is an amazing experience where you can be mentored, valued, respected and part of the team there to serve the story.
Auditons Later part of September 22,23rd (tentative)
Rehearsal 2-3 days a week until tech week and i mean this! I believe in work/life/hobby balance.

Asst Stage manager
Lighting Designer ( just need to design)
Board operator ( just need to run)
Set designer ( just need for design)
Set construction

This means you didn't get a seat in the room where its happening
Don't ask for favors. There are none. WE WARNED YOU!
April 2024 I began posting that this was going to be the show to see
May 1st I posted get those tickets before they're gone
May 14th I reminded you
May 18-30th, you got reminders via FB, Instagram, and via me telling you outright.
May 31st we already had a sold-out opening weekend. We said get your tickets.
June 6th we posted that weekends 2 and 3 were already sold out we said get your tickets
June 7th we started posting only 150 tickets left and by the end of june &th all tickest were sold out for a 5 week run.

NOW you want a ticket??? See where this is going? When you want to be in the room where it happens you buy a ticket before the room is full and by the timeline above we warned you and you had at least 4 pay periods to get that done.

Next time, we say, buy a ticket, get one.
FYI, next up with an amazing cast ( several who are in dreamgirls), is Memphis the Musical at LTA. Tickets are on sale now, so the $$ you were going to spend on the Dreamgirls ticket, use it now for Memphis.
