Community is the heartbeat of everything we do at Bella Ballet & Empower by Bella Ballet. ✨

In Observance of Juneteenth, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate a little differently this year. So much of the rhythm, culture, and art we get to share in the studio every day is rooted deeply in Black history and resilience. To truly honor that legacy, we want to look outside our studio walls and uplift the people building amazing things right here in our neighborhood.

True freedom includes economic empowerment, and our community is at its best when we intentionally invest in one another.

If you’re looking for ways to celebrate, support local, and discover some incredible entrepreneurs this week, here are four Black-owned businesses in the Kentlands and Gaithersburg area that we absolutely love:

🍦 Häagen-Dazs (Kentlands Market Square) – Yep, our favorite neighborhood spot for a sweet summer treat is x Black-owned and operated! It’s the perfect place to grab a scoop and support a local entrepreneur right in the center of the square.

✨ Morrow Design Studios – Founded by the incredibly talented Jenna Morrow, this boutique interior design firm creates absolutely stunning, intentional spaces. As a creative small business ourselves, we love seeing other creatives bring beauty to our community!

🌈 Rainbow African Restaurant – If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out. Located right nearby in Gaithersburg, they bring amazing, authentic West African flavors to our local food scene (the Jollof rice is a must-try).

🌴 Little Island Kitchen – Just a quick drive over to Montgomery Village, this local favorite serves up vibrant, comforting Caribbean dishes. From their incredible jerk chicken to the oxtail, it’s pure comfort food.

Let’s use this weekend to follow them, share their pages, and keep buying local. We are so much stronger when we lift each other up!

From the first day of dance class to the bright lights of the recital stage, what an incredible journey this season has been. :sparkles:

This reel captures so much more than dance steps. It captures confidence built, friendships formed, challenges overcome, and countless moments of joy along the way.

Watching our dancers grow throughout the 2025–2026 season has been one of the greatest privileges. Every smile, every leap, every performance reflects their hard work, dedication, and the beautiful spirit they bring to our Bella Ballet family.

As we look back on these memories, our hearts are full of gratitude for the dancers, families, and teachers who made this season so special. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your child's story.

💜Community in Action💜
Throughout the month of May, our Bella Ballet families came together to support Nourish Now and their mission to end hunger through food recovery.

Thanks to your generosity, we collected and donated over 50 pounds of food to help children, families, seniors, and veterans in our community. From rice and beans to soup, vegetables, and more, every donation will make a meaningful difference for neighbors in need.

We are so grateful to our incredible dance families for embracing the spirit of service and showing that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.

🎉What a Week!🎉
Our Studio Spirit Week at Bella Ballet & Empower was filled with so much creativity, laughter, and spirit as we counted down to recital day! 💖

From Flashback Friday and Superhero Saturday to Sleepy Sunday, Monochromatic Monday, Tropical Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, and Teacher Twin Thursday, our dancers showed up ready to celebrate each day with enthusiasm and fun. We loved seeing recital costume memories, colorful outfits, tropical vibes, crazy combinations, matching teachers, and so many smiling faces along the way!

Thank you to all of our dancers and families for making Spirit Week such a memorable part of our recital season. Your participation helped create a week full of excitement, community, and special memories that we'll cherish long after the final bow. :sparkles:

I’ve sat down to write this post a few times, and I still can’t quite find the right words.

What an incredible recital. As I reflect on this production, my heart is incredibly full

Every year, recital weekend is a beautiful celebration of everything our dancers, families, and team have worked toward throughout the season. Months of dedication, growth, and preparation come together on stage, creating moments that remind us exactly why we do what we do.

To our faculty, staff, assistants, backstage team, production crew, and volunteers, thank you. So much of what makes recital weekend special happens behind the scenes. The love, talent, care, and heart you pour into these children is what makes Bella Ballet and Empower by Bella Ballet so special.

To our families, thank you for your trust. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of teaching, mentoring, encouraging, and loving your children. We never take for granted that you choose to spend your time, energy, and resources with us.

And to our dancers, thank you for inspiring us every day. Watching you take the stage with confidence, joy, and pride was incredibly special.

At Bella Ballet and Empower by Bella Ballet, we are passionate about developing strong, beautiful dancers. But what makes me most proud is who our dancers are becoming along the way.

Our goal has always been to develop not only exceptional dancers, but exceptional young people.

Through dance, children learn confidence, resilience, discipline, leadership, teamwork, and how to believe in themselves. Our hope is that those lessons extend far beyond the stage and positively impact the way they move through the world.

This production was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when talented dancers, dedicated families, and an incredible team come together in support of something bigger than themselves.

Thirteen years later, I still don’t take a single bit of it for granted.

My heart is full.

What an unforgettable evening✨

Bella’s Team Showcase was filled with love, passion, dedication, and some truly incredible dancing. So proud of every dancer who took the stage and shared their talent and heart. Our Performance Teams: Sparkles, Glitters, Diamonds, Elites & our Competition Teams Ignite and Phoneix lit up that stage!

This showcase was such a fun opportunity to perform for our families and give them a glimpse of how hard we’ve worked all year. We saved our recital costumes for the big recital day, but loved getting to share our routines and celebrate our progress together.

Still soaking in the magic from recital weekend 💖✨

As we reflect over the past 72 hours, two words keep coming to mind over and over again: JOY and GRATITUDE. Watching our dancers shine on stage with confidence, courage, and pure happiness is the reason we do what we do. From our tiniest stars to our teens, every moment was filled with sparkle, love, and unforgettable memories.

To our Bella Ballet & Empower families, thank you for trusting us with your beautiful children and allowing us to be part of their journey. Our hearts are so full. 🩷

And the fun doesn’t stop here… Enrollment for our 2026–2027 season is OPEN! We can’t wait to welcome returning dancers and new families for another year filled with confidence, friendship, growth, and magic in the studio.
