A Month Ago: Black History Festival 2025
Day 2 Highlights (The Black History Summit and Expo)
The Black History Summit and Expo, held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia, served as the intellectual and strategic heartbeat of the weeklong celebration. Bringing together powerful voices from government, business, academia, and civil society, the Summit was a platform for bold ideas, policy dialogue, and cross-continental collaboration.
At the core of the Summit were timely conversations centered on themes essential to Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora’s global advancement. Key topics included:
• Diaspora Engagement & Economic Empowerment – Strengthening African and Caribbean economic ties to drive inclusive prosperity.
• Cultural Diplomacy – Showcasing heritage, arts, and tourism as tools for influence and soft power.
• Trade & Investment – Exploring emerging markets and unlocking bilateral business opportunities across Africa, the Caribbean, and the U.S.
• Sustainable Development & Innovation – Focusing on infrastructure, climate-smart investments, and entrepreneurial innovation.
• Dual Citizenship & Repatriation – Discussing practical frameworks for easing diaspora return, residency, and citizenship pathways.
A diverse and distinguished group of leaders graced the platform, offering visionary insights and inspiring commitment to long-term action. Key speakers and dignitaries from the USA, Ghana, Panama, Jamaica, Nigeria, Liberia, South Africa and other nations.
The Summit not only created space for in-depth dialogue but also laid the foundation for collaborative policies, economic partnerships, and tangible diaspora initiatives. As one of the highlights of the Black History Festival, it reflected the event’s powerful theme:
“Bridging Continents, Celebrating Legacies, and Promoting Trade.”
As momentum builds, BIDEC INC and its partners look ahead to scaling these efforts and fostering lasting impact across the African diaspora.
